American seafood, I would go for Anthony's, the one downtown right next to the Midway. It is fantastic, fun view, and great service.
If you are looking for sushi type seafood. I highly recommend Kikos sushi in hillcrest, or nami sushi at the Fashion Valley mall. I actually really like Namis because they sell more than just sushi so you can bring a group of people there and the ones that do not like or are afraid to even try sushi can have all sorts of other Japanese goodness like tempura, teriyaki, etc... Plus they got a good desert spread. Definately the best sushi buffet in San Diego that I have found.
