Yes. Mandarin oranges are very juicy. If you cut them a lot of the juice will seep out in the salad and the bottom of the bowl will have a layer of orange juice and the slices will just dry out

Leave them whole slices. If you cut them up the juice will blend in with the rest of the salad and may ruin the intended flavor.

depends on the salad,, I usually leave them whole,, but sometimes if I am doing a very fluffy salad where all the other fruit is crushed or very small I put them in the food processor for just a couple seconds.

Unless the recipe directs you to cut them up, leave them whole. When they are cut some of their juices can leak out and dilute the dish.
