I would ask for both of us to get tested and we'd still use a condom,no question about that.

First of all whoever gave this question the thumbs down must be one of those who are going around burning up folks, and to just answer this question, GIRL!!!!!!!! DO YOUR THANG!!!!!!On the real
There is not a person on this earth who is going to love you like you do, so with saying that you make sure you keep asking them that, and you know what? If a guy have a problem with you being concerned about your well being then he is not worthy of you anyway.......................DO NOT LET ANYONE CHANGE YOUR WAY OF THINKING ON THIS MATTER Because your health should be your number one concern at all times, I am almost 40 years old and thank God I have been careful like you because I am still healthy because I would not just lay up with just any guy just because he was cute or because I was crushing, Keep on loving yourself as you do and will be happy and well off okay....................................You Go Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that if you are planning on getting serious enough with a guy, meaning getting involved in an ongoing relationship, then you should ask him to get tested for std's. However, if you aren't considering an ongoing relationship, then I would suggest that you either abstain from sex or have him wear a condom. Getting tested, in some areas, is not cheap and is deserving of someone you are planning on more long term involvement with.

Of course it's not unreasonable to be concerned with your own health and well-being. People generally rush things these days, and miss out on the simpler pleasures... I'd advocate waiting longer than the third date to where you know the person better, but if you're gonna have sex with a near stranger, at least be as safe as possible.

I'm going to take it that you don't get a whole lot of action in the bedroom... LOL That's taking "safe" to a whole new level. I'd like to know exactly how you bring that up in conversation. Most girls find it difficult to tell the guy to put on a condom and you're telling them to go get tested.. lol Do what you feel is best for you and your body.

In this day and age, it is a fair question. Although, even with a clean test, you should use protection...

But don't ask someone else for a test unless you are prepared to provide the same....

No, it's not too much to ask. Smart girl!!! But are you sure they will tell you the truth? I mean, if they did/do have an STD?

NOOOOOOOOOO thats what you should be doin. just make sure that you dont point blank say 'get tested for an std first'..... make sure that he knows that its for your safety as well as his.. 'i would like to do this with you, but i think that we should both go to the clinic first, just to be safe.' if he cant understand that, then he is not worth it. cause it wouldnt be worth it if he had something, than gave it to you. i wish everyone thought like you do

I think you could tell most guys to jump through more hoops than that before they start whining...especially if they think there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Maybe your problem is your approach. Suppose you just said "let's go get tested" that would get rid of an assumption that he's the one at fault.
