I belong to a rather small congregation, and prefer it that way. I don't like going to some huge church where I'm treated like a number instead of a human being. There is a mega-church around here that had its services in shifts, according to the first letter of your last name (A through G will go at 9:00, etc), and that's just absurd to me. However, I've been in rural areas where the church only has 6 people or so, and that's a little too small (the church music is virtually non-existent in such cases, and that's a big part of the service for me). Still, I prefer an intimate congregation to a gigantic and impersonal one.

We attend a large and very growing church. The larger churches have the advantage of being able to help more people and offer more programs.
The nice thing that I like about our church is that it is large but has a small feel to it - we have about 300 small groups and you can be involved in and this makes the church seem much smaller than it is.
Since I am on a roll http://www.vineyardusa.org/ - this is such an awesome church organization - there is no pretenses - you come as you are to church no dressing up - they play more rock type praise music - they worship vertically - they certainly seem to be more accepting of all people - they (at least the ones that I have been to) do more biblical application in the secular world utilizing movie or TV clips to emphasis real life.
I go to a Vineyard in Kansas City, MO but I have been following another sermon from the Las Vegas Vineyard on Losing your Religion great series http://www.lvlv.org/

As a Minister, I prefer a Church with less than 500 in attendance. A Church with 100 to 300 is best for me. I feel I am more in touch with the Members in that setting.

If God was in the huge mega church then I would not mind going to it, but the bigger a church gets the people seem to flock to it and their intentions are not to be of one accord. My sister went to the biggest church here near where I live and she was always telling me they was hateful. The church I attend has around 140 on Sunday, and God shows up more so than not.

Many of the large, mega-churches have house churches or small groups. For me, any church that allows us to get plugged into smaller groups works. You have to have community either way.

it doesnt matter to me, as long as Jesus Christ is Lord, and the church takes that message outside the four walls of the church. The church was not meant to be a museum for saints, but rather a hospital for the spiritually afflicted.
I currently attend a very large church

I used to continuously want smaller church homes that are extra very own. I grew up in an incredible church atmosphere, even nevertheless i do no longer trust all their theology/doctrine, the community is impressive. as quickly as I moved away nevertheless i began attending an quite great church, and that i like that still. effective you don't get to nicely known everybody, yet there are multiple individual small communities you are able to connect, and various extra opportunities than a smaller church promises. I additionally do have get entry to to the pastor in spite of the dimensions of the church, we communicate incredibly oftentimes on e mail...in spite of the reality that which would be using fact i like to %. aside his sermons each and every from time to time and he's in basic terms protecting himself. the two church homes are superb, I nevertheless get exhilaration from going returned to the church kinfolk I grew up with, yet i like my modern extensive church kinfolk, too.
