Well, I think it is because they are simply used to being around "thicker" women. Often the older ladies (mothers) are large women. They get accustomed to this, and you have heard the old saying that men tend to marry women like their mother's. Black people tend to love that "soul cooking," which does put weight on you. I think they prefer food over a slender woman. I think they associate great cooking with meatier women.
Just my opinion; I don't mean to be offensive or racial, honestly.

If you do not know what thick mean you should not be responding to this question, thick doesn't mean you are fat it means that you are well proportion not sloppy, and not skinny with no a** and no breast. Thick is slang for nice shape and some of the answers up here are a little racist.

good question, i asked around, and many said that when they "do the do" they want something to work with, and make them feel good, or have something to grab or hold on to. They dont want a bony or skinny girl, because they will be hittin nothin but bones. but i dont agree all african american males dont all want thick girls some prefer the skinny ones!

A thick woman is a woman with a nice butt or shape. It doesnt mean fat Its a slang term that is used.

"thick" and big are two different things. big, is when u go to the doctor and they tell u that u are overweight. thick is when u are not skinny or fat. u are in between. u have a big butt and nice thighs...that's what they consider "thick" my friend..

because we like to grab on to something. its a cultural thing . Some cultures skinny women are in some like very big women . It in the culture

I don't know why we do... It just what we like. Lol I and crazy about Indian girls and asians and EVEN then I look for think ones... Its just instinct for us to love a women with meat on her bones...

a well shaped thick girl drives me crazy... i think its an african thing... i'm from south africa and i love thicker women...
