Officers....
You know, you don't have to be a law-breaker to ask questions like this. Maybe he just dislikes cops, like I do - the way good parents dislike child predators. I coin a new term here: civilian predator. Different from criminal.
However, I agree with some of you that you deal with the worst elements in our society. Although you put your lives on the line every day, statistically most of your firearm deaths are actually suicides.
Unfortunately, the stress from the job cultivates an antisocial personality in yourselves.
That is why the public dislikes and distrusts you more and more each day. I've personally never been arrested, but I have been harassed, and I can't let it go.
Gueroes and other civilians here, you will have to disregard many of the answers that are still to come from responding police officers. By their remarks, they will display to you their rude, childish attitudes. Please ignore the more vulgar comments.

By the sounds of things you are trying to say that the job of being a cop is not a real job. What planet are you on. They have one of the worst jobs in the world, having to deal with some of the worst people in the world. I am not sure what you mean by a "working man's job", but presume you mean construction site etc. The answer therefore would be yes because just like being cop you would have to be fit and work hard. I don't think there are many jobs out there which allow you to earn money and not have to do much for it.

Here in Canada, we have R.C.M.P. (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) As in every career, there are bad apples, but in the case of a cop working a real man's job? What job could be more real then policing and protecting the public? Imagine the sh*t and abuse they have to put up with. Imagine the horror they see on regular basis. Imagine how helpless they must feel sometimes when a criminal goes free because of a stupid reason. Personally, I believe anyone who "rushes in first and asks questions later" is a hero. By the way, what is a working man's job? Construction? They do that-pulling buildings and cars off of hurt/dead people. Plumbing? They do that-they try to clean up all the sh*t on the streets. Look deep and hard, and a good cop does it all. Look deep and hard, and a bad cop tries to. (not that I've ever met a bad cop-but they exist, just ask Rodney King) I'm proud of our police force. My country mourns the loss of one, just like a family member.

I would definitely say that good cops would. After all, these people are making an incredible sacrifice by placing their lives in danger to keep the general public safe, so they must have a real dedication that could be an attribute at any workplace.

Sounds like you are a criminal and have been caught and held to answer for your actions. It appears you have been doing nothing since Oct. 26 (When you started using Yahoo Answers) but asking stupid, irrelevant questions about law enforcment.
If you think you are getting any cops skin by posting stupid questions, you are very mistaken. Cops put up with a lot of crap from the criminal idiots of the world. I hope you don't think that the questions you are asking are being taken serious.

If there was no cops you would be screwed, we have to babysit you all day. People call us to solve THEIR problems . Our job is one of the realist jobs in the country, everyday I put my life on the line to protect citizens. If your just upset because a cop caught you smokin dope then get over it and don't take it out on cops, thats our job. How do you not concider a police officer a working mans job? The real question is could you survive as a cop??

Hmmm.. depends on what you call a "working man's job," goober.
If you call having to put up with people who act out constantly, who want to fight you just because you have on a uniform, who call you everything filthy that their tiny minds can summon, then try to report you because you yelled "get on the ground" at them and hurt their feelings, "not working" then maybe not.
I guess it wouldn't be working to pull your back muscles trying to hang on to some girl who just decided she was going to jump out a window because she was so high that she coudn't see straight, or having your watch broken off your wrist while rolling around on the ground trying to subdue a person so full of pcp they think that there are bugs crawling all over them. I could have tased him, but I didn't want to injure him.
Then there's having to change your uniform during your shift because the person you took into custody sweat, bled, urinated or vomited all over you. Yeah, how many times do you change your uniform at your job? I suppose I'm being overly generous in assuming that you have a job, Mr. "Working-man."
Maybe you should put down the remote and the blunt and go out and try to find a working man's job yourself. Or are you having trouble finding work because of your arrest record?

The police have to deal with worse things than you do. (and I bet they could beat you up lol)
I know that some little towns with 2 police officers might not have much excitement, but that's not the case in most places.

Why would you think that? You must live in a quiet town. The police department in my town work diligently to keep the peace. I don't believe they are lazy for any reason.
