Oh God! Leave the day before. Everybody drives like their head is cross threaded. Being an OTR driver, I feared they wouldn't get me out of LA fast enough, only to be stuck in the stop and go, inconsiderate, reckless, uncaring, weekend gamblers. They drive with $$ in their eyes and see nothing else. There is always an accident by the time you get to Baker and it's caused by the BIG speed limit difference between trucks and the 4 wheelers. For the posted 70 mph for cars~means at least 80...weaving in and out of trucks stuck at the 55mph limit. There has been only one truck we had that could start at the bottom of the hill at 55 and keep it at 55, fully loaded. The rest would dog down to 40 or less and that becomes a hazzard when you have a 4 wheeler flying up on your @ss at 80 and not realizing it and swerve to avoid a near hit and lose control.... Leave early!!!!!!!!!

You should leave before noon, if possible. Fri rush hour is the worse traffic of the week and that's when everybody will be going to Vegas. Also keep in mind that portions of I-15 are subject to road work, and take extra care in the Cajon Pass (generally the intersection of I-15 and I-215. If you need an alternate rte, take I-5 north to SR 14 north to SR 138 east to I-15 north.

Depends, rush hour is horrible always. The 15 can be horrendous going into or out of vegas. And if there's an accident or construction on the 15 you're going to be spending some quality time with your fellow travelers on that road for a while.

The traffic won't be pretty, but leaving early is good. You don't want to get stuck in not only rush hour, but with people who just got off work, are already packed, and hittin' the road for Vegas.
