I saw 3 Nike ones but they were called "travel" golf bags, no clue what that means. Please let me know some good brand name ones. I'd like to get my fiance a new one for Christmas but have no clue what kind he has now, it looks ratty so it's time. Please let me know what you think. Thanks guys

I'd also like to ask are they supposed to have "stands" on them it says "stand bag" and there is a metal piece sticking out. Sorry I'm clueless here.

Hello i would say that the best bag would be a ping. The ping bags are strong, durable, and comfortable to carry. Yes, you do want them to have stands. The ping bag is probably the best choice.

A golf travel bag is reinforced and designed to protect the clubs in the trunk, boot and also from airport baggage handlers!
Nike golf bags are OK, but I think that the most innovative are produced by the bag company Ogio. Callaway are also good, but it really dpends on what you want. You can get bags designed specifically to fit onto golf carts, or carry stand bags which have telescopic tripod legs so that the bag sits up when not being carried.
Bag Boy have a great range which hold the clubs in individual tubes, avoiding damage and allowing easy selection of club.
Prices of decent bags range from about $80 to $400 (£40 - £200).
Hope that helps,
Cheers,
Peter

Get a a stand bag. Callaway is very good. But Ogio is the best because they're company makes only golf bags. Find the most expensive Ogio golf bag in his favorite color at www.golfsmith.com. Get the Ogio Vision SS stand bag for $230. It is the best stand bag out there. It has a special strap so it is very easy to carry. It comes in red and silver colors.
I also really like the Bag Boy NXO Revolver. It is not stand bag however, it is a cart bag so if he rides a cart or has a pull cart, this is great. It has a sepate little rubber hole for each club. The top moves around(Revolves) for easy access to ant club. The Grip-lock sysyem has maximum protection for each club.

I think that a PING HOOFER is probably the best all around bag. I have had three different one and have never gotten a new one because the other was broke. They are light to medium weight, great balance, good stand, and by far the best dual strap system on the market. I caddy at a high end private golf course and this is what I do rate bags on many different levels. Ping hoofer is by far the all around best. has a stand but still works great on a cart. You can even get it personalized with his name.

Callaway, Titleist, or TaylorMade are good brands. A stand bag is a good option for someone who usually walks the golf course instead of uses a cart. But if he usually takes a cart it doesn't matter either way. I have a stand bag and I always take a cart. It's nice to have it when you're just at the driving range though.

trust me as an amatuer golfer the best bag you can by is the Ping Vantage... No other bag is more comfortable to carry... every other bag oigo, titliest (although the best club maker), and sun mountain thier back straps are akward and over 18 holes can just be an annoyance... also pretty much every college golf team has the Ping bag

I have a Titleist X76 Stand Golf Bag and it's great. Light weight, comfortable to carry, holds all my stuff (in fact, it has tons of well designed pockets and nooks and crannies galore) and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Mine was about 125 bucks and it has been all around the world with me. A super bag.
