no it's not hereditary, believe your doctor, some people, in the same family, die with their tonsils while other family members have had them removed, depends on whether they are giving you any problems as to whether you have them out or not.

No, tonsillitis is not hereditary. It is an infection. The tonsils are part of your immune system and remove infections from the body. When they become overwhelmed, you get tonsillitis.

To put your question another way, think about this: My family went for a hike in the mountains. They all came back with muscle fatigue. Is muscle fatigue hereditary?

Tonsillitis is the infection of the tonsils.
No tonsilitis is not hereditary. If you get an infected finger and your husband gets and infected finger does that make it hereditary?? I think not.
Your daughter can have her tonsils out to get rid of the place where infection is staying in her body, or she should be given an antibiotic to clear the infection and be healthy again.
Tonsilitis used to be very common as the tonsils are designed to "clean" infection out of the body. Now with antibiotics the tonsils do not have so much work to do.

No, tonsillitis is not hereditary. It is just that it is caused so generally. Lowered immune system causing deterioration of the tonsil and bacteria going through that area in the body is all that is required. However, PubMed has multiple articles arguing that there is predisposition in children to chronic tonsillitis.

Most tonsillitis is viral in origin. There is no reason for it to be hereditary although it could be possible that your family is more susceptible to the virus due to low immune system

Some things seem to be hereditary because people from the same family eat the same foods. Same eating habits cause same ailments.
