people driving on a two lane road use the oncoming traffic lane as a turn lane? Or is this a Georgia thing?

We were driving to my in-law's house yesterday afternoon, and there was a car in front of us. It was going 45 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone and I was already annoyed with them because the road is curvey and it is hard to pass on it because there is a double yellow line on most of it. (Another of my peeves, people pass on this road all the time even though they have no idea if the lane is clear or not) At one point, they put on their blinker, moved over into the oncoming traffic lane, and proceeded to drive in it for an eighth of a mile before making a left hand turn. IDIOTS!

Another of my driving peeves - people who stop at the top of on-ramps on freeways, expressways and interstates to see if there is any traffic coming instead of trying to merge with the traffic at a respectable speed.

I hate driving.

not just a Georgia thing it happens all over i live in ca. I don't see your first example very often but i do see it. the second one about stopping at the top of on-ramps i see that all the time in my area because in the areas that have ha lot more traffic actually have a light at the top of the on-ramp to help control traffic. so that could be a reason people might stop at the top of them they might have lived somewhere they had the lights at the top and have not gotten used to not having them

A lot of drivers out there don't use common sense. And an 1/8th of a mile does seem extensive to drive in the opposing lane, but I have at different times when no traffic is coming have moved to the opposing lane for a short distance when turning to allow the person riding my rear go by faster. Now, stopping when you should be merging is pretty idiotic. My pet peeves would be people pulling in front of me and then not doing the speed limit, people who hog the road when they pass you, and those who just don't seem to pay attention to anyone or anything else besides themselves while driving.

They must have taken lessons in Utah. I think those people are the only ones who ride your ***, pass you, then slow down in front of you. Utter morons. Here in Idaho, they took all the yield signs off the on ramps to the interstate. People didn't pay attention to them anyway.

yes turn lane 1/8 mi. is danger. You are supposed to YIELD on ramps to hwys. If traffic is heavy you have to stop!! Don't confuse on ramps with demolition derby.

I think people do this so that you dont have to slow down behind them when they are turning. It is dangerous but try to think of them as being considerate. The on ramp people are just stupid.

Perhaps the person's license plate # should be reported to the police such as in a citizen's arrest!
