Get yourself a nice carved bone spear thrower and have a practice with that, I bet you could double your range.

Project as in 'throw'?

It depends, do you throw like a pansy?

I was just checking...how heavy are we talking a modern javelin (800 g). I'm only 5' 8" but used to throw the javelin for my uni. 50 meters was quite achievable.

I'd imagine with a good hurl it might go 20-25 meters depending on its mass.

I would guess around 20-30 feet if you did not have any previous experience but it depends on lots of things like how strong you are, how heavy the spear is and its aerodynamics.
