A just god wouldn't, but when people invent gods they usually want other people to believe in them so there has to be an element of coercion, you see...

No one has to go to church. That's a common, uneducated misconseption. I'm also not sure why anyone would be begging in church. That sounds even more ignorant.

All men sin. The Christian man is forgiven through Christ. The atheist man is not. As for punishment, that's up to God.

i think i know why you are an atheist. you have been listening to the wrong people. if i were to hear these ungodly charlatans on tv without knowing the true word of God beforehand, i would be turned off by them as well. i don't blame you for the way you feel. the responsibility, i believe falls squarely on the shoulders of the false "preachers" that you see on t v .
God doesn't want your money. He only wants your love and your soul. HE LOVES YOU. you are right to not believe the ones who are begging for money. please don't let them stand between you and God's mercy and grace. they will have to give an account for everything they say and do in life , as will you and i. my sincere wish is that you will enjoy a blessed life in Christ.
will you please consider this. thank you for your question.

God doesn't punish people - rather he rewards those people who have faith. The only way to get to Heaven is to accept Christ as your savior, and believe He died for your sins. There is no 'begging' in church involved.

Probably not.

But why would a just God favor or bless someone who refused to even acknowledge his existence?

Lack of favor could seem a lot like punishment.

You figure it out.

It is not a question of punishment. The other man accepts the invitation or he does not. If he does not then he lives with his consquences of that choice. He punished himself.
