As a wedding coordinator I have done many many fall weddings...and even here in Texas were we have no idea what trees are really supposed to look like in the fall they are always georgeous. There are many options to play around with, the only thing I REALLY suggest is wearing ivory, not whte...it looks a little strange if you do. There are beautiful roses called leonidas roses that are a great rust and cream bi-color rose that are always bautiful. They can mix with many other colors, ivory, pale pink, or even a deep red and be beautiful. Then include some fall greenery and berries in the flowers. Or you could use some of the lush colored calla lillies that are out at this time of year. Many many choices.
Candle light is fabulous, a dusk ceremony would be great and feel really romantic.
My favorite wedding had the bridesmaids in gold, carrying mixed fall tone boquets, tall wrought iron candleabras down the isle, small touches of red, i think just red votive candles spread around, and very few other flowers. THey used lots of ivory fabric, and highlighted it with large, long gold saches on some pews (chairs) and hanging strategicly through out the ceremony. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL!
Good luck...feel free to email me if you have questions or want more ideas.

We got married October 8 of this year, and it was REALLY fall-themed (obviously)
1) The cake: we purchased fake leaves that were on sale (shop now since autumn is almost over and craft stores are running HUGE sales) and we made a gorgeous decoration for our cake. It looked like leaves were cascading down. It was a simple elegance.
2) The colors: choose something that works well with your bridesmaids, but would go with the fall. Wine, Hunter, Gold, etc. I suggest picking a fairly neutral color so that you can add accents to it.
3) The invitiations: there are many invitations to buy, but you can also just make your own. You can go with the leaves-based theme or the pumpkin-based theme. Basically, if it looks good, go for it. (The thank-you cards are harder to come by if you want more fall themed)
4) For centerpieces, try using a pumpkin that has been hallowed out. Fill with flowers and go!
I think that your location is AMAZING! Talk about a perfect backdrop!

My neice just had a fall wedding and it was beautiful.. Her color scheme was Ivory and Latiee' and she had it outside and the trees was orange and yellow and red.. it was truly the prettiest wedding that I had ever seen... She had them roll out a red carpet so she could walk on going up the ile.. and tied big pretty sheer bows around the trees that hung over with the pretty leaves .. She had a unity candle .. It was truly beautiful... Hope this helps.... Good luck.. oh by the way.. she got married Oct. 21... so it will be a beautiful wedding should you decide to go that route...

My first wedding ceremony replaced into interior the autumn. The bridesmaids outfits have been Burgundy and chocolate and the flowers have been fall colours. I had a cake with maple leaves (sugar leaves) flowing down the cake and pumpkin pies for dessert. The invites had a lovable little autumn asserting it and had maple leaves revealed on them. photos have been executed exterior by capacity of each and every of the wood with ideal changing leaves. It replaced into exciting to devise and regarded incredibly romantic. however the marriage did no longer final and right here i'm returned making plans returned with somebody i've got favourite longer (10 years) and function a non abusive dating with. We have been going to do a iciness wedding ceremony with dark blue, mild blue and sliver for the colours and upload in snowflakes yet we desperate to do a summer season wedding ceremony and want it to be extra exciting looking. So we are going with orange and crimson and that's going to be extra of a laid returned occasion. i'm having extra exciting making plans this one yet i think of that has a lot to do with the reality i'm with somebody who rather loves me. the two one iciness or fall can seem incredibly astonishing and great romantic.

I live in Nyc and just had my wedding on oct. 8th 2006, on a yacht vessel. The leafs hasn't changed colors, but it was still beautiful and the perfect weather. The only downfall was that the butterflies that I had ordered to be released right after my ceremony wouldn't fly. because it had to be over 72 degree for them to take fly.. and it was about 69 degree that day...

I haven't had a fall wedding myself, but I've been to several. It seems like wine and gold are the colors to go. One I've seen is she took dark colored flowers with leaves and made her own floral arrangements. I think a fall wedding is a neat idea. Myself, I'd rather have a winter wedding. More themes to play with. :)

what a wonderful time to choose for a wedding!
the colors of nature will be gorgeous!
an outdoor wedding will be fantastic.
i always thought my wedding would be an outdoor fall extavaganza. i envisioned a wedding ceremony in a field close by our home, picnic tables filled with all types of salads, roast turkey, roast beef, baked potatoes, fruit pies and [i don't know why] fresh homemade pineapple upside down cakes with ice cream and fresh whipped cream. vases of wildflowers, and greens, and my dress - off white muslin with embroidered flowers and ribbons, and flowers in my hair.
my 'girls' were going to be in autumn colors, with wild flowers and baby's breath bouquets, the men were going to wear dark trousers and white shirts.
invitations would be handwritten on handmade paper, saying something to the effect of : we invite you to celebrate the day of our marriage, [no mention of parents, etc.]
so....what i had ended up with was formal invitations mother designed, and my mother's idea of a weddng: in church, girls dressed in pink bridesmaid dresses complete with veils, carrying roses, black suits for the men, a sit-down dinner complete with a traditional fruit cake and a lot of bad memories.
this is why i always say to brides-to-be:
its your day,
do what you want,
wear what you want, and don't have something you'll regret.
the only good thing about that day was i married the man i loved and still do! we just celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary.
so please have your wedding the way you want it! however that may be!
goodluck and best wishes

I would imagine NC is beautiful in the fall. We had our wedding last September and it unfortunately rained! But everything went great and we had a wonderful time. It rained on our first date so we took it to mean a good sign. :) Best wishes

I was married in November. I absolutely loved it. The colors were so beautiful. I had dark chocolate brown bridesmaid dresses and the flowers were burnt orange, yellow, sage green and off white. I also used a tannish/gold accent color in my decorations. My favotire part of decorating was that we went out and cut off tree branches, about 8' tall. We set them up in pots and secured them so they were standing and drapped cloth around the base. Then we hung white Christmas lights in them. They kinda looked like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. We had several of them setting up around the reception area.
