It depends on the store.

Most of the major stores will be closed, but there will be smaller stores open. And some stores will open, but will close much earlier than ususal.

Most stores are closed. The only time big stores are closed are during Christmas and New Years Eve (I believe so...)

Small stores will be open for a couple of hours. Pharmacies like CVS are opened until 12 pm. I guess you can buy a late Christmas gift there

I wouldn't think so, except perhaps stores like Target, but the big big ones I don't think so. Bloomingdales 212.705.2000 and the Manhattan Mall is 212.465.0500. good luck.

Its not a great shopping day, but you should be able to get the necessities.
