Wanda's right. The military does not make as much as civilians. But, as someone with a college degree you will definitely have higher pay and preferential treatment for things like housing. It also depends on what branch of the military you sign up for.
I think it would be safe to assume that in your first year you would be making mid to late 20's. If you are married you can live on base with your family and all of your rent, water, and electricity is covered. If you choose to live off base (or if no space is available on base...this happens) then your monthly housing allowance would be anything from $800 - $2000 depending on your rank and the number of dependents you have. If your single, you can live in the barracks, rent free or can use your housing allowance to rent an apartment off base or buy a house.
Soldiers who are stationed overseas also get combat pay....like a bonus in their pay check.
There's no guarantee you wouldn't end up in Iraq, no matter what branch you sign up for. But, your noble to consider a career in the military.

You would start off as an O-1. An O-1 is a 2nd Lieutenant for the Marine Corps, Army, and the Air Force, and an Ensign for the Navy and Coast Guard. As an Officer you would start out making 2,416.20 a month, and good luck on not going to Iraq, I think that just about everyone in the military has gone over there, unless you join the Coast Guard. As for the bills it depends on if you live on base or not if you live on base the only bills you pay for your house are phone, cable, and internet.

The other posters are correct. With your bachelor's degree you could be a commisioned officer. If money is your priority, be a commissioned officer if you really want to be in the military. If you join now, you should expect to go to Iraq. If you want to avoid fighting, just stay away from infantry, military police, and stuff like that. I know plenty of people who have been to Iraq and haven't seen combat because of their MOS.

well ,, that's the catch,, all the branches have people in Iraq and Afganistan,, and we are also in Korea, Africa, and other places they don't talk about much. So the chances of you actually going some where and facing danger is high,, trust me just becuase it's not on the news every night doesn't mean it's not dangerous.
As far as pay,, you can go to Military.com and they have alot of information to get you started.
Where to start your search,, call the recruiters,, but tell them you don't want to go enlisted ( they will try their hardest to get you too, they get more points for that) tell them you want to be a commissioned Officer. After that you will choose what speciality you want to do.
Good luck!!!

that's no uncomplicated trick. My dad were telling me about the benefits of the army when you consider that i develop into 12, even as he retired as a Senior chief Petty Officer. It wasn't till i began searching on the jobs and advantages myself that i began wondering there will be some thing to it. Telling them you aren't to any extent further gonna pay for his or her college and they ought to do it themselves or serve contained in the protection stress heavily isn't convincing them that that's a strong concept to enlist; that's basically making enlistment necessary. 40-40 5% of recent enlistees drop out till now their first enlistment is up, and alot of them fall out because their expectancies of what the protection stress extremely is develop into whack and they did not imagine the artwork develop into properly actually worth the benefits. i understand for my section, if my son or daughter joined the protection stress, i might want to be immensly proud to have a 4th technology seriviceman. I also understand i might want to be basically as happy with them in the journey that they chosen no longer to and executed some thing in yet another field.

Google it.
As an officer, you make more and have access to better housing, but you'll still be making peanuts compared to working as a civilian
