I have seen a few out on the road and I can't help but look in horror as some poor little kid (usually under 6) hangs on to this one wheeled contraption that wobbles about behind a totally oblivious adult as they weave in and out of the rush hour traffic. Is it just me or are they putting their littles'un at risk!

For those who don't know what I'm on about look at this link.

Hi, I'm a Tag-A-Long user and my 5yr old loves it!
I take him up to school on it when I'm off shift and its the best thing for getting to school. I carry all his gear in my rucksack, we both wear quality cycle helmets, have all the lights, reflectors and a bright orange flag on the back. We usually end up in the playground sooner than the occupants of the 4x4s as it's much easier to park! We talk to each other as we ride along, so I'm aware of what is going on. He even shouts out "Car Alert!" if some thing is getting too close behind.
My boy has been riding it since he was able to safely reach the pedals without having to slip over to one side or the other.
All his buddies love it and want to have a go!

We have also done a couple of charity rides together, (mum came along on the last one) and the days out are great.

If the unit is connected correctly it won't wobble about. So it is down to maintenance of the bike, and adjusted properly for the rider.

As for "Weaving in and out......" If you ride any bike in todays traffic people will think you are mad. If you are not confident about your skills then you end up being forced into the gutter or off the road.
I will not allow traffic to bully me off the road so I ride in a defensive manner (some might consider it to be "In Yer Face"), but a common mistake made by car drivers is that they own the road. They are the ones putting people at risk! An example is drivers overtaking while I am signalling a right turn (UK rider). Ride a bike - it makes you a better driver!

Its healthy, fun, gets you out into the fresh air. Ride responsibly and with confidence. It gives them a lot of road sense as well. I feel safer with him on the Tag, than if he was riding his bike on the road.

I think they are a great idea they are much getter then the little tent like thing that people like to drag behind them. the tag along are great because the kid is attached to them so they know where the kid is at. the child can petal or not it dose not matter. they should not wobble if they are attached right all the ones i have see in use are very securely attached so the kids part moves exactly with the adults. ok it is wrong for the parents to be weaving in and out of traffic that is just stupid but other then that they are a great thing.

No,No, its better to have the Handlebar Seats that you can put the kids into right in front of you! Popular in Latin America.
