Brett - I looked at your other question and I can tell you exactly why you got the answers you did.

You failed to say when you asked the question that you have dyslexia. As a result, people took your question as an attack upon people with dyslexia. If you had explained why you wanted that question answered I suspect you would have received a much more sympathetic response.

Just as a matter of interest - why DID you ask the question when you are in a far better position to answer than most of us?

By the way - don't panic about the text messages. I have a friend who is extremely dyslexic and she texts all the time - it may take me a while to decipher, but I get there in the end. I figure that as she has dyslexia and I don't, it's up to me to figure it out. My partner and son are also dyslexic and it doesn't stop them texting either. The only thing that stops my son is lack of credit.

I do not know why people tend to be rude, unthoughtful or compassion less anymore...it truly is disheartening as a mother of a child that is mildly dyslexic...

People don't understand that you SEE letters differently...and it is not a condition that can be treated with a drug. You have to learn to read and write differently and although you have the highest IQ it is difficult for you to get your ideas & thoughts across through the written word. And reading is a daily challenge.
I and my other children are avid readers and I knew there was a problem with my child when she was in Kindergarden! I had to fight for 3 years to get my child the help she needed.....and the difference in only one year of approaite help has been amazing! The world is opening up to her. We still have to work really hard but everyday there is progress and she is almost on level with her reading after starting almost 3 full reading levels behind. I couldn't be prouder of her....

Don't worry about the stupid people out there....they are not worth your time or effort. I hope they don't have to suffer the pain of watching a child they love struggle with any dissabilitly.

As to text language, I don't have dyslexia and I don't understand it. To me, it looks like gibberish ("Btr cl at yur elst cnvs bfr tht chr dtled" ????)

The stigma of dyslexia is that since I don't know what it is you see, I can't understand it. There seems to be a kind of arrogance that "if you work a little harder, you can do it", but it doesn;t work that way. (My wife has severe dyslexia and my daughter has it to a lesser extent)

Stutterrers and lispers get this same kind of treatment. I have found that some "normal" people lack the patience in this area to be understanding

What I have found with people answers questions is that they don't care who asks the question and whether the person asking the question actually cares about the answers given, all they care about is the points they get for "answering" a question.

So, I wouldn't take any notice of everyone's response. People who care about your question and are willing to help will respond in a manner in which would help you. Those are the answers you should only care about and read.

Good luck in the future :)

not being rude but if your dyslexic why did you ask why dyslexic people hate to write and send txts?
surely you now the answer to that and you just answered your question in the question you asking now??
a close friend is dyslexic and i sympathise with ppl with learning difficulties, but you are right it was wrong and uncalled for for ppl to give abuse i would just ignore them as they are pathetic and as was said earlier, scared of what the dont know about

People will always abuse others - usually if it's an embarrassing situation that they cannot cope with. Perhaps people don't know or understand enough about your condition to be adult about it? We are all different and some people are severely disabled - however, they are still people with feelings and others should be aware and considerate of that. You will always come across pillocks in life so you will always get good and bad answers - some people just don't know when to stop. I wouldn't worry about them if I were you - just get on with living your life and enjoying it. Sticks and stones and all that!

I think the problem is that too many people are diagnosed as mild- dyslexic or ADD so that greedy doctors can medicate them with drugs that keep them coming back to the office. Those that actually have dyslexia unfortunately get less sympathy and understanding. Good luck with your treatment.

it really is because you'll concentration on something that you want to spotlight not you'd be desiring to or ought to spotlight. I say the most important to it really is to get motivation, there are type of techniques to attempt this, operating example, someone can lecture you, you are able to set up a timetable, you are able to make your mind artwork by technique of utilising those workout technique issues or do quiz questions till now focusing on something. that is been suggested that those who spend their time observing too a lot television, being on line for device lengthy, play alot of video games like playstation, those are those who're in all chance to be sluggish and performance short concentration spens. you may want to get your mind into the habit of gaining comprehend-how continuously and that is going to get used to it, to the point that you're going to study stuff without desirous to.

The question you asked made it sound like you were insulting dyslexic people. They did not know that you were dyslexic yourself.
