My kitten does the same thing , your kittens does that cause they might have been taken from their mother early , you shouldn't be worried , I guess they weren't ready to be ready to be away from the mother , they do it for comfort . they do it when thier scared or stress . And it's like they trust you , you should be happy , they think you are thier parent's now , and it's also a bonding thing they share with who they trust , some grow out of it when they get older , some dont . But when my kitten does this to me , I dont mind , I'm like his mom and he thinks I'am his mom. So enjoy your kittens , and be happy that they trust and love you , they are a joy to have.

It's a security and comfort thing, you're a substitute mother. Also I've been told it's when kittens get taken away from their mother too early. It doesn't sound harmful, but years ago I had a kitten who used to climb on my shoulder and suck my ear lobe. On one occasion he managed to draw blood. Shortly afterwards a lump came up in my neck and I ended up being referred to an ENT consultant who took a biopsy. Thankfully the results were negative. It was only then that I wondered if the kitten had anything to do with it. When I discussed this with the consultant, he agreed that the swollen gland in my neck was a classic symptom of Cat Scratch Fever and decided that it probably was the kitten who had caused it. Antibiotics got rid of the problem within a couple of weeks. This is true, am not making it up. By all means let the cat nuzzle, but don't let it's teeth break your skin or you may end up with the same problem.

I bought my 2 three year olds from Europe to California with me. To reduce the stress as much as possible we stopped off at Washington DC for the night before going on to LAX the next morning.
One of my girls (she was 2 and a half then) spent the night in the bed with me attached to my neck doing exactly what you said, suckling and kneeding. I think she was just stressed out and she returned to her kitten instincts.

Some cats just do this. Some of them didn't get enough nursing, or just are more dependent. This can't go on of course.
He needs a toy he can suck. See if you can't find some cat toy he can chew and suck and then you sleep with it for night or wear it under your clothes for a day so it smells like you and then offer it to cat when he tries to suck your neck.

Hi Lisa...this behaviour/condition is regarded as PICA. It's more commonly seen in cats who have been removed too young (not properly weaned) from their mother cat and/or most common in asian breed cats such as siamese. It's helpful to try and discourage the behaviour with redirection to treats and toys which later will help them grow out of the habit.

Here's an article about PICA: http://www.vmth.ucdavis.edu/home/beh/feline_behavior/pica.html

it sounds like your dear moggy was taken from mum too early.
i had a cat that did the same thing, he would suckle and lick me as soon as i sat down.
though my cat was a rescue cat the previous owner took him from his mother at 5weeks of age and all cats must stay with mum for 8 weeks
your cat will never grow out of it as i found with mine he still did it right in to his old age

Your neck might be kinda salty. A friend of mine's cat licks him everytime we come in from playing basketball. It's kinda weird. Try to kept your neck clean.Try tobassco or put rubbing alcohol on it. He'll runn away quicker than you can say scram.

He thinks your "mom" and you are a source of security for him. Actually that's very cute but I can see where it would get old. Our cats try to "accidently on purpose " wake us to play. We have 6.
