The other folks are quite right...NyQuil is a cold remedy...it is also used by many, especially teens as an alternative drug choice.
NyQuil's active ingredients are:
Acetaminophen (pain reliever/fever reducer)
Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant)
Doxylamine succinate (antihistamine/hypnotic)
Don't forget the alcohol...10% (Twenty Proof). People will actually dose themselves a bottle or more to induce themselves into a hallucinogenic state.
Don't get me wrong...this is the best stuff ever to get a good nights sleep if you are sick...take a little extra and you'll have some pretty cool dreams. it is just our drug insane culture has found NyQuil to be the next over the counter crack. So if you or your family seems to have a cold for the next six months and is consistently buying NyQuil...you might have an addict.

Nyquil is a cold remedy, bought over the counter, with no perscription. It is easily abused for it's high content of alcohol. I am certain this is how it was referred to in the movie you saw.
