You have posted this question under Religion and Spirituality category. The ordinary meaning of coincidence involves chance happenings. Within the context of religion/spirituality, there are various possible questions you might have in mind concerning coincidence. For instance, when your fervent supplication to God on a matter turns out in your favour, is it a mere coincidence or a result of your prayers?

A coincidence is just a series of events that we find to be significant. They have no meaning. We feel that throwing two sixes in succession is nothing unusual, but that throwing six sixes in succession has some kind of significance. Really it has no significance at all. Six sixes are just as likely to come up as any other combination of six numbers. The only significance is that which we give the event.

Carl Jung taught the concept of Synchronicity. That things
are much more than coincidence, but have meaning.
Like the time I went fishing with some friends. And they told
me some wood bees ruined thier last fishing trip.
I said, "They won't mess with me, and that quick, one of the
wood bees was right in my face. I got my buddies all wet,
trying to swat the bee with the wet paddle."
Another time I was standing up to some harassment at
a homeless shelter. I kept hitting them and hitting them by
contacting different churches and public groups, exposing the
abuse.
And Everytime I turned around a wasp was buzzing around me. Like I was hitting them again and again like a wasp attacks.
This shows that all things have a spiritual bond, or
are "connected" as they say today.

No, the answers to prayers aren't "mere coincidences." In my case anyway.

I don't believe in coincidence, per se, but I do believe in synchronicity. So I think it's our unconscious minds subtly engineering stuff for us.

It's a small world and similar or related things happen a lot of the time, sometimes two similar or related things happen in close succession and we notice it. Maybe that doesn't sound very clear, I'm sorry.
