If you leave it in the house you forget and walk out without it.
It never gets that cold that the door is frozen so I'm ok.

Why don't you put newspaper or a sheet over the window so they don't ice over.... No de-icer needed.

I never buy de-icer.
I get given de-icer as (part) of a christmas present
I have been given de-icer as a promotional offer with 5 litres of anti-freeze
I never buy the stuff,

Well, I did so as I worked night shifts and so in the winter I would have to de ice the car before I went home. Believe me, you wouldn't want to sepdn any longer there than strictly necessary, I couldn't wait for the ice to melt of it's own free will!

House, office and a spare in the car. Keep the keys warm carry a lighter if you are that fastidious and warm the key.

Because it's the car that generally needs de-icing... I'm not really sure what you're getting at...

But surely you would need it in your car so when it freezes up you've got it to hand?!!

It's fairly obvious. You don't want ice on your car. Ergo, you de-ice it.
