Hey, I know I must be stupid to ask this, but why did lot give up his daughter and concubine to be raped by those guys rather than giving them a guy. Why did he use the words:,'And humble thee them', meaning he wanted those rapists to humiliate them. And then why did he cut up the concubine into 12 sepearte puieces. What's going on here? And remember, if you say it's an allegory of some sort, you must then allow that the rest of the bible is an 'allegory'... And then why did lot's daughters get the old man drunk and have sex with him? What the hell is this thing called the Bible. Where is the religion in it? Cause I can't find anything but vileness I wouldn't show my ten year old.

The Bible shows that God who reads hearts, did not judge Lot adversely.
When God sent two materialized angels to Sodom and Gomorrah,Lot hospitably insisted they stay in his home. That evening a mob of Sodomites surrounded the house crying:"Where are the men who came into you tonight?Bring them out so we may have intercourse with them"-Gen18:20,21;19:1-5
Stepping outside,Lot tried to dissuade the men. Then he pleaded;"Please, here I have two daughters who have never had intercourse with a man. Please, let me bring them out to you. Then do to them as is good in your eyes.Only to these men do not do a thing, because that is why they have come under the shadow of my roof."The angered mob pressed in on Lot,almost breaking in the door. Then the angels intervened and struck the mob with blindness - Gen.19:6-11.
It should be noted that according tothe Oriental code,it was a host's responibility to protect guests in his home, defending them even to the point of death if necessary.
While some say that Lot should have offered himself to the mob,it is unlikely that the perverted mob would have been satisfied with an old married man.And the offer to soil the purity of two young virgins may have had some appeal to the mob and could have had the effect of distracting or dividing the perverted mob.
Furthermore, although Lot had at first entertained angels unawares,by now he well may have realized these to be messengers from God,and as a result was willing to sacrifice his daughters if necessary, knowing that if it was Jehovah's will,God would protect his daughters even as God had already protected Sarah in Egypt. And Jehovah did direct matters so that Lot and his daughters were kept safe not only from the homosexual mob,but also from the fiery destruction that came to the cities.
Lots daughters got their father intoxicated because they knew very well that he would not have consented to having sexual relations with them in a sober state. They felt under the circustances it was the only way to prevent the extinction of Lot's family. They were aliens in the land and there was no one of their kindred with whom they could enter into marriage and thus preserve the family line.
The inclusion of the information about Lot and his daughters in the sciptural record should really help us to appreciate that the Bible is a book of truth.
The Bible is a wonderful gift our Loving God,Jehovah has preserved for us.There is much more to it than just reading it and obviously misunderstanding what you are reading. You would do well to study the Bible with Jehovahs Witnesses who have a thorough and accurate understanding of the Sciptures and then you would feel confident in sharing this knowledge with your ten year old child.

Because Lot was in despair knowing that the homosexual/bisexual males of Sodom and Gomorrah would attempt to seduce/rape any attractive male that came through the area.
He was following the custom of offering sanctuary to the men and if you read the account carefully you will see that in fact the angels were there to destroy the cities - Abraham knew this was about to happen but Lot did not?
As God was aware of what was happening Lot's suggestion would not have been acted on as that would show God to be acting with the men of the town.
The angels were not at serious risk of harm as at a stroke they struck all the males with blindness.
The account is purely to show that God knows what is happening and works to carry out His plan even if it makes no immediate sense to we humans.

You are right, it is allegory. The Bible in my opinion has been re-written by so many people. The way it reads now is incomprehensible, to say the least. Look for the book that reveres and duly respects God and the Apostles and all the Prophets. I urge you not to be blinded by the mass media and the inherited prejudices. Try reading the Qoran for example or any other book. I think you find a lot more sense than the Bible, where utter nonse is prevalenet.

Nobody got raped. Lot woud rather have seen his virgin daughters abused than those two strangers who he had invited into his house end up getting mugged.
In the end nobody got raped so your point is inaccurate. howver, Lot did suggest to the people that they take his girls instead . He was doing what he thought was best. The rpinciple was so strong to him as he was a righteous man. He would rather let his own daughters suffer than those two strangers becuse he felt a duty of care over them.
He could have given the men up and was under pressure to comply but resuisted. Good on him Genesis chapter 19 you mean , yes ?

Whew! You are not stupid, and you know it.
Allegory? Religion?
You are, of course, correct in saying that this vileness you would not show to your ten year old. I hope there are many other ugly things that you would not show your ten year old. Like your personal life or the personal life of your parent's, for example.
You are very angry about Christianity and I suspect it has nothing to do with your ten year old.
You are confusing Lot with Noah and Noah with Lot. Lot was so ashamed of the life around him that he 'offered' his daughter's to 'trick' the evil men who wanted to have sex with angels.
Noah, after coming off the ark, and his daughters were so delirious that they somehow grew grapes, fermented them and then got drunk. The girls were so afraid that they would never have any children that they had sex with their dad.
Ugliness. Despair. Sin. Degradation.
That has nothing to do with us.
The bible is a compilation of stories, truths, examples and advice. Not an example, in every case, of what is good for us to follow.
Sometimes a negative example leads to a better understanding of what is right to follow.

the Bible like the Koran are not designed to be religious texts, but truth in wisdom and understanding of the sacredness of God s words to his creation. Religion is a concept of man made theologies. If man decides to discredit the words of God for his own purpose, that is on man. If one were to take the Koran and scrutinize all aspects of its intent, there is much that could be negatively said about beheadings, burning people alive, and murdering your own women and children for the sake of maintaining the religion of the Koran. Those things are set and acted upon by men who interpret the Koran into serving the purpose of their religion. Likewise, men are capable of interpreting and misrepresenting the words of God in the Holy Scriptures which are originally found in the Hebrew text as the instruction from God. First commit yourselves to understand what the words of God have intended to man s knowledge of their creator, then after you have found what your creator intends for you, then commit yourself to live in that truth. If we think man wrote the scriptures then we must also think that the thought of God originated with man, thus making God a manmade creation. In that understanding, all religion is in grave error, no matter what its claim, being Jewish, Moslem, Hindu or Christian. Judging another s religion reflects a man s weakness of his own faith, which should be faith in his creator, someone much truer and greater than himself.

by capacity of an examination? Or by capacity of a criminal? If by capacity of an examination in college, i'm completely superb with rape whistles. it incredibly is all those whistles are sturdy for besides...making jokes approximately very final exams committing acts of sodomy against the examined scholars. As for if by capacity of a criminal, then please, have her be donning a gun. If its sight won't scare him away, its bullets will do away with a criminal from the streets. needless to say, i might decide to good prepare her to apply it, and in basic terms while needed.

That's because the Bible is written by man. Because it's been perverted and changed by everyone that got their hands on it. Sure there are good life lessons in it, but you can't believe everything you read. Sorry, but every religion and every sect has always manipulated the Bible to benefit themselves. Tell him the truth about religion so he won't grow up brainwashed.

Because the crowd of perverts wanted to rape the men who were staying with him. Homosexuality in general, and homosexual rape in particular, were such heinous things to the Biblical Jews that almost anything was preferable to it.
Raping a woman, as heinous as it is, was not as bad (in the ancient Jews' mind) as a man raping a man.
It wasn't because Lot thought that his wife, daughter, or concubine being raped was a good thing.
Again, remember that homosexuality was an absolute abomination to the people in that culture and time period. Just about any sexual behavior, even as bad as it might be, was preferable to homosexuality.
