Are all Christians paedophiles? According to their priests.?

Let's make it this way today. I have read many comments here about Muslims and being offended when someone writes about them. Let's see how Christian will react to this. If we take common pattern which goes like this: suicide bomber - Muslim = terrorists - all Muslims or the whole Islam. Then we have: paedophile - Christian priest = all Christians paedophiles. I am Christian myself and would like to understand where these generalizations come from.

I got some of your answers in a way that my question was not necessary. I know the answer very well, of course. I just wanted to make us think how much injustice can be done this way. I think 'good' Muslim people feel this way nowadays. I, if thrown this to my face, would even cry. Yes, it is nice and comfortable when they leave you alone. I hope you understand where I am heading to.

To Farhan. You have completely misunderstood my question. It was aimed to support 'good' Muslims, and in by no chance to deny paedophilia among Catholic priests. In my country (2 mio people) we have at the moment 2 priests on trial for child abuse. One priest even abused more than 15 children. Ah, I feared to be misunderstood and I was.

To JesusFreak. It was just a question. By term 'all' - I did it in purpose, I was laughing at the propaganda that 'all Muslims are evil or terrorist'. Because if they ALL are ....., then also the other side should ALL be ....

They are borne out of frustration at not being able to identify individual offenders. People want the self righteous satisfaction of being able to condemn a guilty party, and in the absence of being able to identify an individual, they label the whole group to compensate for it.

I don't have a priest in my church - I have a pastor so I guess you're only talking about Roman Catholics?

For all have sinned and fall short of God's glory - unfortunately this includes Christians and I'm sure there are paedophiles in the church (they are VERY disobedient ones and need to repent and seek restoration!) There are so called Christians who are pro-life but shoot abortion clinic Drs - the thing is - 2 wrongs don't make a right!

To me, it's because the Muslim authorities have never openly condemned the Muslim terrorists, and this sounds like being in agreement with what they do. Pope Benedict has recently said in an official speech that paedophile priests are committing a horrible crime. When are we going to hear something similar about the terrorists from the Sheikh of Al Ahzar or the Ayatollahs?

well becouse Catholic priest are not allowed top marry and deal with a lot of young boys it is the catholic traditions that lead to many comitting that sin. that does not excuse it the faith should have come down much harder on those acused from the start.
but becouse some priests comit sin does not mean they condon it in others. I do not think all muslims are terrorists but I do feel islam condones it when it happned or makes excuses like men they thought were good muslim sudenlky become noty muslim at all ??

While your point makes sense and is valid need i remind you that Muslims feel the same about Christians. Many religions (including Muslims) marry their daughters off at the age as soon as puberty has began. (within a year or so).
So anything you can blame the Christians of, other cultures are likewise doing. The difference? In many other countries its perfectly legal to have relationships with children.
And no im not condoning it! I am very very against it .. and hope the rest of the world can catch up to some (not all) of our standards.

You're right in that just as most Muslims are not terrorists, most Catholic priests are not child molesters.

There is a difference though -- there isn't a Catholic religious leader anywhere in the world who is actively encouraging Catholics to molest children.

But there ARE Muslim clerics who actively encourage Muslims to engage in acts of terrorism. Most Muslim clerics don't do this, of course, but there are some who do.

So, your analogy isn't a bad one -- but it's not totally adequate either.

As Christianity is one of the big 3 religions, probably more accurate to say about 1/3 of all paedo's are Christian.

Christianity is an odd old thing, in that the evil ones believe that they can get away with rape, murder, etc just by saying forgive me. The Church acknowledges that priest's **** around with Kids, however they view the child's lack of forgiveness as worse, because as Christians they are ordered to forgive.

Jesus said "forgive us, as you would expect to forgive others", it does not mean let them off without any recourse.

Generalizations always come from ignorance. To say that all muslims are terrorists is simply ignorance.... to say that all Christians are pedofiles is equally ignorant.
Radical muslims do tend to react very quickly and loudly when they are offended by what someone writes or states about their faith.
As do many Christians. As a Christian myself I always try to remember that while I may not agree with the beliefs and comments of other people. The same Jesus that gave himself for me..... gave himself for them also. Whether they choose to accept that or not is between them and the Lord.
I dont generalize people due to religion race or for any other reason. When someone tries to show their intelligence by making broad generalizations.... they only show their lack of knowledge.

u r mixing between teaching and individual behaviors, in the case of Islam, it is a solid teaching in Islam that they shall go after all non Muslims and kill them, and any Muslims denying this truth is an ignorant in his religion, but u do not find teachings in the bible about being pedophiles..those priests did something wrong and do not represent all Christians , not even Catholics
