Cover the skin in oil and sprinkle with salt, then put in the oven and forget about it for about an hour or so - should be nice and crispy outside and fluffy in the middle. Gas ovens give the best results for some reason. If you can't wait that long part cook in the microwave then crisp up under the grill but it's not as good. The oil and salt are the key!

Depends on the size of the potato. If it's big, put it in the microwave for about 4 minutes then put in to a hot oven with a skewer through, a little olive oil and some salt and pepper for about 50-60 minutes.

In an oven, first spread oil over the spuds, I do a whole baking tray's worth, when done I open them scoop out the potato mash add a little cheese and fried bacon and seasoning then put the mixture back in the skins. Allow to cool a little wrap in silver foil and store in deep freeze until needed, bung one in microwave when hungry. Tastes fantastic, and it's cheep and good for you (well relatively when bacon & cheese added).

Heat the oven to 180C, then get an oven tray and sprinkle with sea salt. Use Maris piper potatoes, wrap them in tin foil, place on the oven tray, then place them in the oven for 45Min's,then take them out, careful remove the tin foil, then put them back in the oven for a further 10Min's! Should give it a nice crisp jacket!

all of the other answers will work, the potato doesn't care. Just one caution: a baked potato has nearly twice the sugar as the same one boiled and can effect some diabetics. I'm sure you know the vitamins are in the skin, which most waste.

In the oven rub them with some olive oil and a bit of salt and them cook them in the oven uncovered so the skin goes nice and crispy. If you are to hungry to wait like me, I cook them for a bit in the microwave and then finish them off in the oven, Yummy!!!

I put mine in the microwave for 10 minutes then in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes. That way they are very soft and fluffy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside.
