how is it possible for a preschool teacher to teach my son phonic (the sound of letters) if she has a really strong accent, so the way she says the letters is totally different to the way we say the letters?

omg this is not "just" preschool, this is a very important year, a year where he will learn the basics, the platform for later learning, if he gets it all wrong now then he will get it wrong all through school, you cant just correct him and expect that will be enough, children take a lot of notice of their teachers and are influenced greatly by them, you need to say something but be careful how you say it, i can see that if your not careful you could be misunderstood and branded racist...good luck to you

This is exactly why I never put my kids in daycare or preschool... whatever you want to call it.

I want my kids to be raised and taught their foundation skills by my husband and I... I want them to carry with them our morals and learn our beliefs. Sending them to spend all day with someone else is like buying a puppy and boarding it at a kennel all day.

If the kids only see their parents for a few hours in the evening and maybe an hour in the morning, yet are with a caregiver all day, who do you think they will be more like?

My sons kinder teacher has a an Asian accent ,sometimes I cant understand a word she says, but the kids seem to cope fine. As long as they hear more people talk without an accent they will do fine.

I had a friend who has a very strong Korean accent and taught both of her boys to read by the time they were 3.
