I am doing a survey of people I can find to find out how long after treatment is started for a person who has had the cancer spread into the lymph nodes....how long did these people last? For many they go on living as long as anyone. Some die in a matter of days or weeks. What is your experience. So you could answer a percent that lived for so long and so forth. Preciate it. Just trying to get a handle on what we deal with in cancer survival from a lay person's perspective in our society. It is such a hidden thing unless somebody dies. Some people must survive. I wonder what that percentage is in general. And as a bonus, have you noticed anything different about the people who survive either physically or spiritually? What is your observation about how or why you think someone survived verses someone dying from their cancer?

It totally depends on how people get treated for it, though attitude definitely helps. Those who fight with knowledge and are able to laugh through the hard times seem to survive more. I've seen people with lymphomas who are still going strong after 5-10 years.

I think the cancer you are talking about is Lymphoma, although other cancers can certainly spread to the Lymph nodes. It's been 2 years since my chemo and I'm doing OK. So far, no recurrence. I lead a pretty normal life.
Here is a great site for info:

Any type of cance can spread to the lymph nodes. I had breast cancer with lymph node involvement 2 years ago and am fine now. It isn't necessarily a death knell when it spreads. Look at Lance Armstrong. His cancer was Stage 4, in his bones, lungs and brain and he is very healthy now.

Julie Friedeberger - The Healing Power of Yoga for People with Cancer
Julie's journey with yoga began in 1970. She began teaching in 1987 and trained teachers between 1990 and 2000. In 1993 she had breast cancer, an experience which left her with a deeper trust in the power of yoga to help us face our challenges and to heal ourselves. Since then, her key focus has been on yoga as a healing therapy, and on the effectiveness and power of the simplest of yogic practices to help in the healing process. The approach she has been developing has grown out of her own encounter with life-changing illness, and the integration of its fruits into her life and teaching.
Yoga and healing are both concerned with wholeness, integration of body, mind and spirit, and yoga provides us with the tools to create wholeness and harmony on all these levels. Julie's day will include simple movement, breathing, relaxation and meditation practices from the Satyananda tradition, including Pawanmuktasana, Asana, Pranayama and Yoga Nidra, with particular application for people who are dealing with life-changing illness.

My sister had Hodgkin's disease at about age of 21 she lived to be 30. I would like to state that the disease didn't cause her death. She had chemo and radiation. The radiation deteriated her lungs and she caught Pneaumonia and passed away. I hope this helps. There is always hope and faith so don't forget to hold strong to them both. :)
