Me? I am a blank canvas, no tattoos for me. My friend has one that is tribal which she customised to include the initials of her parents who passed away. Thought that was really sweet.

Have you got a tattoo? What is your tatt of? How long have you had it and is there any special reason you had it done? Are there any tatts you regret having?

I have one and i've had it going on 2 years now. it's a fleur-de-lys with "je me souviens" around it, which in French means "I remember". the story surrounding the tatt is I studied in Quebec for a semester because I'm a French major. Quebec was a defining period in my life. I grew up there. figuratively speaking. I became an adult and all of my previous study came together. I understood what it meant to speak French and be accepted by a French culture. I look at it and see the faces of all my friends and the great times that we shared. The fleur-de-lys has a mythical status for the Quebecois. It recalls their proud heritage and the days of "all for one and one for all". all of those things are encompassed in my tattoo.

I have a few. On my 18th Birthday I skipped school, met up with my boyfriend and went downtown to get my first tattoo. It is a butterfly with Tribal surrounding it. When I picked out my tribal, I asked my tattoo artist if he had any tribal he had done himself, his own personal stash. He did so I used that.
When I was 19 my boyfriend was killed in a car accident. Some of his family members as well as a few friends had his initials tatooed on us.
About a year later, a friend of mine who owns a parlor tattooed my foot of a Crescent moon, clouds, and stars!
Those are my Tatt's enjoy!

I have several tattoos, with MANY more planned (my back and hips have pieces and I'm getting sleeved). Every tattoo I have has a lot of meaning to me and isn't something like "tribal" (I hate that term) which everyone and their brother seems to have these days.

I view my tattoos as a scrapbook of my life. A lot of people - especially on here, it seems - will say something along the lines of, "What about when you're old and 80 and wrinkled up?" Well, then I'll be old, with wrinkled tattoos. I'll be able to look back on my tattoos and remember why I got each one, the situation that occurred to influence me in getting it and the meaning behind all of them. When my grandchildren ask about them, I will be able to tell them that their grandmother had a very fulfilling life and these are all the things that have happened to her and point out each tattoo in reference to major events that I have marked, by getting a piece of art permanently etched into my skin, for the world to see and to carry with me always.

Please think long and hard about what you want to get, before you get it. There are tattoos that I've been pondering on for a decade and I'm still not sure I want them or not. I'm always thinking of new ideas to add to the list and it's always being modified. So yeah... take your time and don't be in a huge rush. You have the rest of your life :)

I have 3;
hip- flower
back of spine- star
inner ankle- butterfly
they were all chosen basically as pretty images, I would love to have something more meaningful, my newest is around 4 years old, however when I have previosuly thought back about my choices I realised that they are all symbols of the natural world and of freedom- esp butterfly and star, and I think that these were chosen maybe with an unconscious thought of their meaning. Maybe that's reading a little too much into them, though! I absolutely adore my butterfly, and so does everyone else, but I would prob wouldn't have had the others done now, though I don't so much as regret them. They are all small and easy to cover up, so I'm not really concerned!.

I am 43, 5'11" and wear a size 9 Jr. jeans. Look good in a bikini too. My first tattoo was about 7 years ago and it was across my lower back - roses with vines (get more compliments that you could count) next on was on my ankle again a custom designed rose with the stem winding into the small area behind the ankle, again lots of compliments. Last one is a Celtic cross just above my roses on my back. I would not suggest tribal as you know it is permanent and they are going out of style for women. They seem to have become a more gang status tattoo. Be creative and be picky. Good artists will custom draw you whatever you want or adjust one of the standard book ones. This is one time you should not be spontaneous! also, keep off the arms and neck, guys find it very sexy when they're in sensual places. Lower back - Oh yea, when you bend over they get a glimpse and find it oh-so-sexy!

I have a tattoo of a hooded sentinel carrying a cushion on which there is a skull. I have had it for over 20 years now and never regretted it once. I had it done to cover over one I had done when me and a mate got drunk and decided we wanted a tattoo each - both 17 at the time. Had some India ink and a pin, but I got bored halfway through my mate doing my tattoo and ended up using a Stanley knife to finish it off. Didn't cause any complications or damage but given our inebriated state. Ah the rashness of youth!

I have got a tattoo of a scorpion at the bottom of my back. I have had it for 6 years and have not for one day regretted having it done. It is in the best place for me because I and people around me can't see it unless i want them too, i didn't want one where all the world could see it. Throughout my teens i always wanted a scorpion tattoo on my back, and when i was 20 i thought i might as well go for it. I got a scorpion because it is my star sign (scorpio) and it will always 'mean' something to me.

I got my tattoo last May 25th. It says 'Get Thee To A Nunnery' in a nice fancy script. It's a quote from Hamlet.I wanted to get a tattoo for a year but never got round to it. I'm glad though that I took the time to think about it properly. The main reason I went out and did it too though was coz my doctor was telling me don't do this and don't do that and I was fed up of being told what not to do and I sort of rebelled. But it's the best result of a rebellion I've ever seen. And it was worth the pain.........

I had a grim reaper put on my left upper arm when I was 16. I got it done more for a dare and had to lie about my age. Now looking at it, its awfull. I have since had a tribal pattern done on my right upper arm and acrooss the top of my back. IT HURT !! so when I get the courage I will go back and get it all joined together and probably get something that will cover the first hoorrible one.

I have a dagger on my arm, red / black coloring. Did it after my divorce cause while married hubby wouldn't let me get one so after the divorce I did to shove my independence in his face.

Butterfly on leg. Birthday gift from my parents, but small enough that it hides well. I also have love birds on my lower back (no reason for them, just loved the picture) and I also have a dolphin on my upper back which I drew myself and since the only picture I ever drew in my life that turned out good, I thought "Why not?" and got it put on me.

All my tats are in places that hide well (except the arm one therefore while at work I always wear shirts that hide it) and they are for me and me only.

Yes, I will be getting more once I find appropriate ones. And the one on my arm will be a cover-up soon. Something more girly than a dagger. lol
