Can't really do much but sit him down tell him how you currently feel for him and then tell him you need to get something off of your chest. Look him in the eye and be straight up about it, he may forgive you for it if it is sincere.

Depends on what you lied to him about. If it is a small thing then tell him that you said something that wasn't quite truthful and you care too much about him to not get it out in the open. If it is something that he wouldn't find out anyway, let it go. Sometimes it is better to let something go than cause heartache.

Be honest! Don't try to make excuses or blame others. 'Fess up completely, and show him that you're trustworthy because you tell him when you lie. Apologize to him! Tell him you know it's wrong, and you're truly sorry for hurting him.
If you're worried about his reaction... maybe beforehand ask him if you can tell him something important that will need his understanding and care... hopefully he'll say you can tell anything to him. then he will be more prepared for it, and also hopefully will still be under the mindset of wanting to show you he's patient and understanding when the first shock of the truth hits him.

Well depends on the lie you told but from experience ill say that you may either run the risk of losing him or your relationship getting stronger or the worst case scenario is that you stay together and he throws it in your face

Depends, what was the lie about? If it's small, like age or something, then yeah. And if it's big...depends on how long you've been together. He might be able to overlook small things if you've been together a month or so...but not something big. If it's big, drop hints at it until he gets it himself.

If we analyze minutely this whole bunch of bf and gf are baseless, without solid grounds. truth and lie applies to the things standing on solid grounds, therefore it doesnt matter what you told was that lie or truth.

If you want to admit to lying for the sole purpose of clearing your conscience, then you shouldn't do it, especially if it's for something that happened in the past. It will only hurt him. Think about your reasons for wanting to tell him, and then decide.

Just break it to him and share your remorse. Take responsibility. Do not make excuses.
