OK, I have a this friend that I have liked for a long time. It's is very obvious that we both like each other. I just don't know how to tell him. I have thought about writinig a letter. What would you suggest?

I'mnot talking about asking him out, I just want to tell him how I feel and I chicken out every time we are together. Sometimes I get the nerve and then someone will walk up and start talking to us.

The best thing you could do is just push through your fear about it and come straight out with it, but we all know that's hard to do sometimes. Maybe try a more subtle approach. Sit in his lap and give him a big kiss. No...wait...that's not subtle at all. But it's the approach I like women to take. Flirt with him a little and see how he reacts. Find little ways of making physical contact. If he's not gay, he'll get the message. Also, don't build it up into such a big deal. So you like the guy. You're not going to die if he doesn't feel the same way. I don't regret one time that I told someone I was interested in them, even if it turned out they weren't interested. But I do regret the times I chickened out and possibly missed out on something. What do you have to lose?

You sound confused - you like him, but you don't want to ask him out? Why not? Are either of you involved with someone else? If so, don't do it.

If you're not involved then try writing a letter. Save it for a week, then read it again. If you still feel the same then either call him and express your feelings or give the letter to him. Downside is that you don't see his initial reaction - plus is that he has time to think and respond and help you save face if the feeling is not mutual.

If he expresses his feelings - and they are stronger than yours are you ready for the consequences (ie; to date)? If not, then DON'T DO IT. If you express feelings but aren't prepared to date it will only result in resentment and jeopardize your friendship.

Don't right any letters like that. It will turn him off. If you want the guy to know how you feel tell him. I know you are putting your heart out there when you do that but it's the next best way. The best way is to show him how you feel. Action speaks louder than words. You don't have to sleep with him to show him. Just be there. That's all it takes. If he is the right one he will notice.

I have the same problem (with a girl). The best time to do it is when you are alone with him in a place where you are unlikely to be disturbed, that way he won't be embarrassed or defensive because he is in a group.
