Examples are when I say goodnight to my Parents at night. I HAVE to think something happy or I will regret it so much. Or I have to repeat myself several times, or have to think happy thoughts when I say something happy.

You can't get rid of it. The best you can do is to identify what it is that you are obsessive or compulsive about, and try not to be so about them!

Seek advice and consultation from a qualified mental health professional if you have symptoms of OCD.
Contact a crisis intervention specialist if you have any serious and critical symptoms.
Recognize the biological effects of alcohol use. Avoid or minimize alcohol use. Alcohol is a depressant in which prolonged or excessive use will increase and deepen symptoms. Withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can produce symptoms of anxiety and panic.
Avoid drugs that are not medically appropriate or approved by your physician.
Maintain regular or routine physical activity. Exercise is an effective way to relieve symptoms and build strength to resist stress.
Do not isolate and withdraw from society.
It is important to resist acting on symptoms, but will power alone is not a solution.
Do not punish or shame yourself. This will only make things worse.
Do not focus or dwell on how it might get worse. Negative predictions can result in anxiety, panic and depression. This can make OCD worse.
Sometimes it can help to focus on and perform simple manageable tasks that are not compulsive behaviors.
Notice if there is a relationship between what you are doing and your symptoms. This can help during an evaluation and in treatment of these disorders.

ocd takes a lot of work...it depends on what repetative ritualistic behaviors you do, how often you need to repeat the ritual behaviors, your level of anxiety/fear if you don't do the rituals, etc. you need to be in therapy, take meds, support group, etc. ocd is an exhausting disorder to have. you're gonna need to be an active participant in your therapy so that you can learn what your behavioral triggers are and learn new behaviors and thought patterns to replace the old ones...the sooner you get into therapy, the sooner you will start making progress, and feel better. if you don't have medical insurance, county mental health has a sliding fee scale...cost is according to your income and what you can afford to pay. best of luck to you!!

As stated before... Getting rid of it isn't a constructive option.

BEING that you are OCD you do have some non medical options available too you! That's the good news!

(Hooray for good news!)

Start by reading the Tao of Pooh. Then read the Te of Piglet. Then read the Toa Te Ching.

YEAH YEAH YEAH! It all sounds super wacky.

But... Toaism teaches us coping skills. The philosphy is ***alll** about working our limitations into our daily lives.

I wish you luck.

have a look at Paul Mckenna's books. He has helped alot of people with phobias. I'm sure he may help with OCD which can be so debilitating.
