I got my nose pierced on the side, not the septum....and I have not worn a stud in it for almost a week now....it is closed up....and if you answer that I should not do it at home, and that I should go back to the shop where I got it....then is it OK to get it repierced in the exact same spot? Will it hurt if I do that?

it's okay to have it pierced in the exact same spot as long as the healed hole isn't bruised. it's like having a dextrose reinserted to your vein when you're hospitalized.

i'd recommend that you go back to the shop, unless you're used to repiercing it yourself using your own brand of anesthetic.

I'm an apprentice piercer and I am telling you to go to a qualified piercer to have them taper it open.

Depending on how old and healed your piercing is, they may be able to open it back up without re-piercing it and with little to no discomfort to you. If it HAS closed up and you want it pierced in the exact same place, it will hurt a little bit more than it originally did, as they will be piercing through scar tissue. They can always adjust that and pierce it near that spot and it won't be going through the scar tissue.

Do not do it yourself. Go back to the shop and explain the situation and they'll give you your options... which will probably sound like the ones I just gave you ;)

Good luck!

Also, before I forget, since someone else mentioned doing this... NEVER EVER EVER put alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on a piercing. It will dry up your skin and make the healing process VERY difficult. It can also damage the jewelry. Bad idea.

First, Get some peroxide & alcohol, also some sterile absorbent pads, just in case. Before Re-piercing the spot, prep the outside of the pierce with alcohol (must be 91 percent for good cleansing)
Take your stud or ring & slowly work it in to the piercing, When
stud or ring is fully inserted, apply peroxide to wash & prevent infection, wipe util bleeding ( if any) stops, Leave in for about 2 weeks, then re-do prceduere until piercing is permenant.

I was put in the same situation before, and I used an earring with a pointed pin after sterilizing it, and i kept the same earring in until all the pain was gone. Can't say it does not hurt, but not that much. Do not do it if it the pierce is not completely healed though.

It is okay to get it re-pierced in the same spot, but being a professional piercer, I insist you go to one. If you go to an experienced piercer, they should be able to re-pierce you quickly and a lot less painfully than the first time because its probably not FULLY healed.
