when a man meets a girl now and they date. If she doen't want to have sex for a while like lets say months of dating, does he respect her more? I am in my 30's and am thinking of trying this to see if it helps my relationships.. How does a 40 or 50 year old man feel about this? I like sex and all, just wondering?

Well I thank all of you for your imput. Most of them men's responce I were as I thought, (they would respect me). A few that said no, I feel are the jerks.... And thank you to the women for your input, but this was really a question only a guy could answer, but again thank you! I am not able to choose a best answer because there was about 4 that I really liked, so I am going to let this go to voteing....

Again, Thank you for all of your responces.

They should respect you for your decision to abstain, if they don't then find someone who will.

im no way near being 40 or 50 but i believe that sex isn't everything in a relationship. The most important thing in a relationship is commitment and trust, knowing that the person you love, loves you back and knowing that there is someone each night to come home to and to wake up next to each day. Sex is a welcome bonus in a relationship but as my g/f said and i agree its not everything, but a very welcome bonus and pleasure. If she didn't want sex for a while i would respect her for that as it shows that sex isn't the most important thing and after a while you'll end up wanting it even more and finally when it happens it will be even better because you waited a bit then you can be at it like rabbits. Hope this helps and take care

Making a man wait makes us respect a woman very much, and we know that this woman is a keeper, because she waits until she knows she's with the right man before she has sex. But if I were ever to find out that you gave it up quick to other men and made me wait for it... I'd be pissed. Which is why I never ask my girlfriend about her past.

As a 41 year old male i would say...yes...thats if he is the 'good' type! If a lady jumps me on the 1st date (well that would b nice) i might think shes easy & that can cause jealousy down the time line when shes 'too' friendly with my friends. No its good to hold back.....from my view i will respect that & see it as a good quality & will wait for you to make the 1st move....in other words when you are at ease....when you taste the apple then its so much nicer!
Good luck

That depends on what you want a relationship for. Are you looking for sex only, or short term commitment, or long term? If your looking for a long committment of real love, then a guy should respect you and wait. Otherwise, your just playing power games by making him wait, which means you don't respect him, and he may not respect you.

i agree with Moraies Fate. sex has nothing to do with a guy respecting you or not. respect comes from the time you guys meet and the situations that will evolve between you two. if you show it to him that you dont respect yourself, then he definately wont respect you. but i think, he is to like you more and have admiration for your love of you to abstain though your strategy doesnt apply anymore in today's dating zone. just let him know that you want to get to know him first before letting your emotions out and sex! then when both of you are ready, go for it.

i like sex, but i like it more when am ready and when i know the guy in question well enough to date him for long term. and this kinda lets me know if the guy is there for a flirt or for real.

I'm not 40 or 50.. but i can say i respect a woman a lot more for waiting than if she were to give it up right away.

I don't think sex has anything to do with whether a guy respects you or not. He either does or doesn't. A good man will respect you regardless. If he doesn't respect you, then he wasn't a good man to begin with and isn't worth your time.

I admire men who can control their sexual needs because they are rare. Most guys will grab every chance if the woman is not on guard. Your guy knows the right time for that. (and you should also). That guy is a husband-material I must say. Its gonna be marriage first.God bless

it will not change how much i respect you --- sex is fun --- and i wont let it interfere with the relationship ie if she says no --- its no and we get to know each other better

if its yes we have sex on a regular basis and get to know each other better
