You say you are waiting for the phone to ring.... any advertising out there to make it ring? use your pc to print a simple flyer and hand deliver it. Canvass a couple of neighbor hoods offering winterizing - everyone has a window or two that need caulked a weatherstrip that needs replaced - look for houses that need a new storm door and give them a quote - DON'T SIT AROUND WAITING, GO AFTER IT! Offer some satisfied customers as references. Go back to neighborhoods where you've done work and knock on 5 doors - the neighbors next door on either side and the 3 directly opposite on the other side of the street - Hi, I'm John Jones and I replaced Mrs Smith's windows last fall, wondering if you'd seen them? Have anything you need done? Can I give you a free estimate? I noticed your driveway needed sealed when I was doing her work can I give you a price for it?
I used to clean carpets and we used the 5 around approach. It was very effective. I realize construction costs are more than carpet cleaning but you'll get some response I promise.

You may have to bite the bullet for a little while and go work for someone else. I don't care what the media says, if you have a skill, there are jobs out there. Have a little faith in yourself and God. Unfortunately anything related to housing, like new construction, home improvement and all that jazz goes with the rise and fall of the housing market tides. Go work for someone else so at least you are bringing in a steady paycheck and your wife stops busting your balls, but at the same time keep your business going and use that as "side work". When you do it, give incentives to your customers for paying cash ;-)
(hint, hint). Now get out there and get motivated. You may be 52 yrs old but you can do it. Trust me. I've been there. Good luck and God bless!!!

If possible a career change... Then a loan..... I HATE loans, but a loan can be a solution ONCE and only AFTER you find a way to get back on your feet. Consolidate everything into the one and tidy it all up. Ask your wife for help. That will be the most important thing you could do right now . Work together - it might help you, and, allow her to feel important - as though she can contribute as well. Good luck. Dont forget that tomorrow could be better......

Well, you won't get rich quick or support yourself, but you can earn a little extra on Treasure Trooper. I've made about $870 since I joined in July. They pay by check around the 20th of every month for the previous month's earnings. They pay you to fill out simple offers, take surveys, signup to receive trial products, etc. It's provided some nice extra spending cash for me, and it is also a lot of fun... it's pretty unique how they have it set up. There's a lot of interaction with the admin & other members and there's also little games & treasure hunts that you can do. They also pay you 20% of whatever your referrals make and 5% of what your 2nd-level referrals make. Honestly, though... it's a cool site.

Don't sit there waiting for the phone to ring....
So your 52..and?? You've got lots of years left to work..
Go find a job with a company somewhere..do whatever you have to do. It has to be better than having the "sky fall down on you"
I'm not a religious person, but I do know that it is written somewhere biblical... "God helps those who help themselves"
So off you go tomorrow and get a paying job working for someone else. o.k.?
Best of luck

Bankrupcy is not the end of the world if that is where you must go. Try going to financial counselling; it is free at some places. The fret is sometimes worse than the end result. Some people have to declare bankrupcy and then just pick up and move on with a lighter load. It is all perception.

Why not get a full or part-time job with evening hours so you can support your family until your business picks up? There are lots of people who work 2 or 3 jobs just to stay afloat. Remember, it's only temporary.

Sorry about your sh*tty lucky man. My bf just started his own biz about a year ago, and so far so good. He dumped a lot of $ into advertising his first few months, and I b*tched cuz I thought he went a little overboard. It's really paid off in the long run though. Sorry I don't have any better advice for you. Just keep on keepin' on and hopefully you'll catch a break.

I like your, "I am praying and losing faith real fast"
Been there done that bought the T shirt.
OK, first you pray, but, have no faith in your prayers or they would be working.
double minded gets nothing from God.
so now we have to build faith.
Faith is a substance of things hoped for evidence of things not seen.
The prayer of a Righteous avails much.
Satan comes to still kill and destroy,
So he came in an stole your harvest. And he wants to destroy your life.
By making you feel like your failing. Your not. Its Spirit your fighting, not the way it goes.
Satan has you in his pocket. And he is playing games with you.
Email me if your wanting this, I may be over your head,
But I know what I am saying will bring break through in finances, it did for me.

I'm having the same problems and will take the advice of the answer above me to keep believing in God ...but I know how you feel and things seems to get worse before they get better ... I can't offer to much advice because i'm going through financial difficulty myself... even with the help of my partner i'm still getting in debt because I want to buy everything for my kids , and buy everything I want even if I really could do without it and take advantage of the fact that my partner will pick up the pieces but not anymore... maybe me and you try to figure everything out ourselves and don't ask for help when we could use it.....
