I have found the name of a male relative in the 1841 census and am having difficulty reading the handwriting. It looks like Ishmall. One of his daughters was called Eberilda. They look like Bible names to me and I wondered if there was any connection between the two names. Ishmall could be Ishmael. Thank you. Alan

Ishmael was the son of Hagar. Hagar was Sarah's (Abraham's wife) slave girl. Ishamael was also Abraham's son, which Sarah wanted of Abraham bacause she was barren at the time and couldn't have children. Ishmael means "God hears (or listens)"
Ebenilda does not appear in the Bible. The closest Bible name to that is "Ebenezer", which is a geographical location in the plain of Saron.

look in a book of names. or you can lookj at the site house of names. com and see if is listed. it may require going to another site to check for first names. ishmall is based on the name of ismael, first son of abraham. his mother was hagar, sarah's handmaid.
