1st Question - Can sex cause urinary infection - it appears that two weeks after having occasional sex i seem to get this type of thing?

2nd - I have been getting stitch in my left side, the odd back pain and the odd pain in the middle of my tummy at the front but below the rib cage but a few inches above my belly button and also on the left hand side more so and slightly on the right handside of the front of my tummy. They have been worst the past two days and in the past day or so i have developed a very uncomfortable itch and a very slight burning sensation when going for a wee.

I thought the pains were a pulled muscle or gland ache as i have had a throat infection accompanied with a cough plus i also take alot of dance classes. Now however im thinking its a urinary infection. Has anyone else had this or think it is a urinary infection?

Indeed sex can result in urinary tract infection. But, this sounds like your kidneys may be affected too.

As always, see your quack and if needed, you will get some anti-biotics.

In the meantime, drink cranberry juice. It is a natural anti-biotic and superb for urinary tract/nladder infections.

Another symptom of infection is the feeling that you need regular pee visits and not much urine is there. Also, pass every last drop of urine that you can each time you visit the loo.

Urinary tract infection is usually caused by drinking water containing germs.Barley water helps in control UTI.If unhigenic partners are involved UTI is possible through sex. After evey sex, penis or private parts should be washed and cleaned.UTI can be cured by using antibiotics. The throat infection has nothing to do with uti or sex.
You have to go to a doctor and urine got tested/cultured for proper diagnosis.Intake more water/plenty of may ease problems and reduce burning sensation.

Apparently my best friend told me that yes sex can cause cystitus. It is very uncomfortable. Go to the doctor to get some antibiotics if it is really bad. My daughter drank a lot of cranberry juice and bought some cranberry tablets from the health store.

Sex certainly causes urinary infection,if not checked the infection can then go to your bladder, resulting in a lot of pain.
Drink plenty of water ,take Ural and go the doctor.
I have had so many infections, i had to go to hospital to have a bladder operation because i had not cured my infections.
Nothing can really prevent it,but showering after sex every time works for me.

this could all be from a urine infection that has back-tracked into your system and spreeded to your kindeys and/or your bladder, the coughing may have caused the pain in you upper abdomin. You should consult your doctor asap, he could prescribe some antibiotics for you to take orally, otherwise you could end up in hospital for them through a drip, with a stay of around3-4 days. wish you well

Not the sort of thing u want to leave untreated. Why waste time worrying about what it might be when your doctor is the best person to ask? They can diagnose the problem and treat it so make an appointment asap.

it may be a kidney or bladder infection in addition to urinary infection. i would see a doctor for anitbiotics. if you get repeated ui's you can take cranberry tablets- they sell it in the vitamin aisle at most stores where vitamins can be bought. i have a neighbor who gets ui's all the time unless she takes cranberry tablets. at the first sign of a kidney infection or bladder infection i begin drinking cranberry juice to get rid of the infection, unless the infection is full blown and i have to have antibiotics to get rid of it.

sounds like cystitis. drink plenty of fluid and try to include cranberry juice, if it gets worse go to the pharmacist for some cystoleve or similar (tastes like shite but does the trick). failing that see your gp for some antibiotics - i prefer to seek other methods before resorting to them though as they weaken your immune system.
best of british to you - cystitis is horrid.
