Nope. That's not true. Peacock pairs breed the same way other birds breed. In the wild , the males are real playboys, mating with several females, but in captivity they tend to be monogomous.
But they mate just like other birds.

Thats an ignorant and unobservant statement, whoever told you that is an idiot..... just looking at the male Peacock you can see proof of the way they mate.. What the heck do you think all that colourful tail and feathers are for? To impress the female and convince her to choose him as a mate.
