Not all high PSA results mean cancer! Sometimes you can't resolve it..I have a friend that has a reading of 6.5 and has been as high as 9...He has had it for several years gets checked at least 2 times a year and no change..Within the last 2 days there was news out concerning this vary topic..bottom line only a byop. can determine. also an enlarged prostate doesn't mean cancer either..Just keep hanging with the Doctor and insist on semi annual checks both via blood and finger wave..If the Dr. says everything ok then it's ok..But if you still feel uncomfortable then go to another Doctor Specialist.. You can also ask for a byop..to either confirm your fears or negate them..Good Luck..Remember YOU are in charge of your own health not your Doctor..So make yourself feel good...

According to what I was able to find, they said this. Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Blood Test Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a substance produced by the prostate gland. Elevated PSA levels may indicate prostate cancer or a noncancerous condition such as prostatitis or an enlarged prostate. Most men have PSA levels under four (ng/mL) and this has traditionally been used as the cutoff for concern about risk of prostate cancer. Men with prostate cancer often have PSA levels higher than four, although cancer is a possibility at any PSA level. According to published reports, men who have a prostate gland that feels normal on examination and a PSA less than four have a 15% chance of having prostate cancer. Those with a PSA between four and 10 have a 25% chance of having prostate cancer and if the PSA is higher than 10, the risk increases to 67

A high PSA score qualifies you for a ultra sound examination and if the indicates hyperplasia, a biopsy is done. The biopsy sample will determine the nature of the growth and if it cancerous there are a number of options available. Good luck.
