I think I may have some sort of anxiety or something.
- I always try to avoid social situations.
- I don't have a fear of speaking like in a planned speech, but am very nervous about talking to individual people (that I don't know).
- I've never made a real friend in my life.
- Don't really have any friends now that I'm a Junior in college

Yep...sounds like you got a little social anxiety. Have you ever thought about talking to a professional? Sometimes it is a little easier said then done when it comes to being social. You aren't by yourself, it is fairly common, but can be treated with counseling or medication.
Really though, if you just bite the bullet and smile and even just try to change your body language a bit, that might help. Good luck.

I have panic attacks, a worse form of anxiety, and yes that sounds like you have anxiety. And poor social skills. ( not saying that in a bad way) But the type of anxiety you have seems to be with people. I can get that way at times, my heart will race, ive been in the mall once and just fell to the ground because there were so many people. Talking to new people has been a challange fore me, but I can do it. But I am also on medication. Some people really rather not hear that but medication helps the problem A LOT. But if you need more help, try talking to your doctor, or parents if they are understanding. Take one step at a time, and you will be able to talk to people that you dont know just fine.

Yes, Sweetie....I do, too. You have social anxiety disorder and maybe, generalized anxiety disorder, too.....of course, I'm not qualified to diagnose.

For me, the answer was a medication called Paxil.....and, of course....not giving into my fear. You have to keep putting yourself out there.....because, the way you overcome any fear, is to face it.

Somedays, though....I still find myself rather reclusive. That can't be helped...and I think I will struggle with it for the rest of my life.

I can tell, though, that the more I put myself into social situations, the easier it becomes.

Hope this helps! Don't feel alone. There are a lot of folks out there with the same problem. Go get your meds, Hon....and give it a few weeks to kick in.....you'll be soooo glad that you did.

Your an introvert. Just shy, and there are ways to overcome that, but you have to work on it.

You probably worry about what people will think of you if you open your mouth. Don't worry so much.. Try to relax a little and just say whatever you feel like saying (within reason)

You'll be surprised how quickly you will change...

Repeat after me: "I don't care what other people think about me"

Best wishes.. and "relax"

I don't think ,from what you have said, that you have anxiety. Seems to me that you are shy and passive, and really don't like groups.

Ask your doctor and tell him these symptoms. Yes, I have had them. I am on Paxil now and it's much better. It works!
