Stay as far away as you can from cigarettes while you still have a choice and don't "need" them every day. It's not even all about cancer - I'm middle-aged and have seen no-one get lung cancer from smoking, but, virtually every smoker I know has either *COPD* or has had heart problems,if they've failed to kick the habit young. Also you do have a higher risk of throat and mouth cancers from the combination of cigs and alcohol.
So it's not about whether it will kill you, but about ruining your quality of life when you're still young enough to enjoy it and have to cough up evil phlegm and gasp for breath all the time or have a heart bypass in your forties.
(*COPD=chronic lung disease - you don't even want to know how this destroys your quality of life. I was often near to tears watching my parents struggling to get a breath with this )

If you're worried about the distinct possibility why do it? I have been smoking for 40 years, and I'm still here but I want to stop. If you only smoke on saturday nights you're not hooked yet so STOP NOW.

Anyone should know the harm that comes from smoking by now.
Lungs were CREATED for fresh air.
Not tar / smoke / cyanide etc etc etc.
Why not adopt a worthy goal:
“Learn how to respect, honor and cherish my body and my life”?
