The library file PSAPI.dll (Process Status Helper Library) contains program code used by Windows applications to retrieve information about processes and/or device drivers running on the system. The file PSAPI.dll is required for Windows to function correctly. So make sure the file PSAPI.dll is on the system.

For Windows XP, the file should be located in SystemRoot\WINDOWS\System32. For Windows 2000, the file should be located in SystemRoot\WINNT\System32. Either copy the file from another server or extract the file from the Windows Installation CD. If you fail at that, then reinstall Windows ... as a last resort.

I am very interested by this as we are not able to access the net from microsoft outlook and we get a similar message now and again. We have tried downloading Microsoft again and it did not work. I cannot offer a solution, but hope a good suggestion comes up as a result of your question.

I had this after microsoft recommended an update to internet explorer 7. After days of getting the message my internet explorer stopped working. To stop the box appearing and prevent further problems go to START>MY COMPUTER>ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS click on internet explorer 7 click remove & follow the wizard to uninstall it. You will automatically go back to Internet Explorer 6 and all will be well again!! If microsoft offer IE7 again ignore it till they get their act together. Good Luck.

your pc is trying to find a newer file but the older one has same name and pc gets confused it wont cause any major problems its just annoying. if bt go to bt file in programs and smartbridge or if ntl/ smartbridge and rename the psapi .dll to psapiold.dll when you reboot this file will then be over written with the new file.
