My children and I share a house with my mother. I pay more than half of everything and everything in the house is mine except for her bedroom. I have the only car in the household and do all the errands, chores, cleaning, laundry, etc. My mom sits on her butt in her bedroom on the computer and leaves once a month to cash her disability check (that she faked to get). BUT my mom does own the house even though she bought it with proceeds from land that was actually mine (long story). My daughter and I found the THE CUTEST little dog yesterday. We brought it home, cleaned her up, spent hours trimming matted hair and burrs off her and she never minded at all. My daughter wants to keep her and I don't mind because she is house trained and everything and she is just such a good dog. My mom on the other hand says she will have to stay outside because she already has a dog (a nasty little begging chihuahua that uses the floor for the bathroom every chance she gets). But it's so cold!

What kind of position are you in? Is your mom able to afford the house and all of it's bills with out you? Is your name on the bulk of the bills proving that you pay for the bulk of the bills ?

Now stop complaining.. she is ur mom and better to have a mom like that than just someone from outside.. to think ur mom pays for something, gives her a right in the house. the fact that she is ur mother, then what else do u say? she took care of u for many many years and through pain and all, she never put her fingers on her keyboard to complain about you.

about the dog issue.. i also love dogs and i had a prob same way as urs with my parents.. but i trained the dog to be obedient and so it wont bother my parents much... they still complain about the fur and all.. and i bought a nice dog fur broom to clean it up.

life is so full of compromises.. u will have to do the extra mile to keep her contented and love the dog. she will have to compromise to love the dog... ask ur daughter to talk to her grandma with all the charms so ur mom will agree.....always work when the grandaughter did the talking...

I say keep the dog and she will get over it because some chihuahuas have a special way of winning people over. She can't stay mad forever considering everything you do and you and your daughter deserve something special.
God bless you for rescuing this dog may it bring you and your family much happiness.
By the way I own 7 chihuahuas and my boyfriend disliked dogs in the house, etc but now he fixes my dogs extra breakfast bacon and has he favorites picked out. So I know what I'm talking about.

I'm glad you rescued this dog! Do not put it outside, or it will die. You will have to just put your foot down and tell your mother the dog is staying.

Sounds like you are in a tough situation, but if you are paying more than half of the bills, you have just as much say in this as your mother. She can have her dog, and you can have yours. I hope your mother is cleaning up after HER dog.

I am a grandma and I am on your side on this one!

Good luck!

be firm & make a stand to your mom! Yes its her house but you also have the right to make decisions inside the house & your mother knows that! when she sees that you really mean business, she will back off. Let your daughter keep the dog no matter what. Don't worry about getting evicted coz it won't happen. Your mother needs you to survive.

Keep the dog. You're paying for most of the things in the house. You're mother will just have to get used to it. You can't put an animal out in that cold, it will kill them.

Keep the dog, she'll get over it. If not, turn her in for fraud.
