This is my question : Since Buddhism acknowledges incarnations, when exactly does a soul get attached to a new body? Shortly after conception, birth or during some stage of pregnancy?
Second part :If it is before birth, does Buddhism have an opinion on abortions?

all life is sacred. I'm not Buddhist, but I know this is their doctrine
As for when a soul attaches to a body, sometimes the soul knows that the mother will abort the baby, and not come down. That is all I know. I think I started right away, but it wasn't a real memory, it was more like a vision, and visions are like paintings by Picasso, you know. I think that souls enter the baby at different times during the gestational period. I don't think there's ever been someone born without a soul, because they literally couldn't survive. I would assume that by the time the fetus can move around, it is alive, and has a soul. Most definitely by the 5th month when it turns.

I'm not quite sure but King Yama would release the souls for recarination just prior to the birth. The soul would then enter the baby and the reincarnation would be completed. As regard to abortion, its is deemed evil, coz not only are you killing a living creature, but also depriving the damned soul at salvation, making it necessary to suffer the wheel again. But thats my thinking

gday mateyz on 360 buddy day
you choose your parents at the moment of birth before recarnation, depends on what you learn in this life, if you deal with you problems etc. plus your karma points,
it has many writtings Philosphys buddhist theorys etc but that s what it basicly means to me.

i dont think they have an opinion on abortion because they believe that the soul will transfer into another body anyways
