I realize jobs will be different depending on other factors, ex where you work, how long. I really enjoy studying chemistry, but I've noticed there are a lot more jobs available for chemical engineers than for chemists. I'm just trying to get a feel for things.

I'm a chemist but I work as a chemical engineer for a food manufacturing company. The working hours are 8 per day but you may extend if your project requires so. For example, if there are plant trials, it would usually take us until nighttime to finish the study. The working time may vary depending on which department you are assigned. In my case, I'm in the Research and Development Dept, working time is daytime. In Production or Quality Assurance, they have shifting time - meaning work can be at daytime and/or nighttime.
