I have several amps, & several cords to amps as well as other devices. Is there a way to make sure I plug in correct cord? If it's 3 prong & fits in the plug can I assume it's correct, or can there be several that may fit but be wrong? Should the voltage be more or less than what amp needs?

If the plugs and sockets match, you are safe. A 3-wire power cord on a guitar amp will reduce the hum (compared to a 2-wire power cord). It will also reduce the possibility of getting shocked if you use it outdoors. The wires in the power cord should be 16-gauge or less in order to carry 15 amperes of current safely. The way they rate power cords, a 14-gauge or 12-gauge wire will carry more current than a 20-gauge.

The amps and volts should match exactly between the power adapters and audio AMPs. They should be labeled. And the adapter tips need to match......when you figure it all out, lable them with some colored electrical tape so you can just match red cord to red device, yellow to yellow...etc....
