I think you need to get your facts straight. The Republican controlled house passed the so=called "enforcement" only bill. This is the Bill that the people want. The Democratic controlled Senate knows better than the American people because they are well, superior intellects, so they put their own bill together. The Senate amnesty bill. Look up Diane Feinsteins speech before Congress
http://feinstein.senate.gov/06speeches/cr-immigration.htm
If you look up voting records you will find that Republicans vote overwhelmingly in favor of tough immigration laws while Democrats like Dianne overwhelmingly oppose. This is precisely why nothing gets done. The Dems won't let it happen. The Republicans have the lets tackle one problem at a time approach. Let's seal the borders, let's plug the holes, then we will worry about what to do with those already here. The Dems won't hear of it. They feel we have to have a comprehensive plan. We have to solve all the problems at once. In short they are selling the American people down the river so they can play their political game. BTW it is 700 MILES of fence not 500 feet.

700 miles is a long walk my friend, even for an illegal. Its not in any way a cure all,its meant as a deterrent to illegal aliens. We already have several fences in place along the southern border and where they are erected there has been a decrease in attempted crossings. And when the illegal tries to go around them, where they try to cross also has had a large increase in apprehensions. So here in AZ we are happy to see any length of fence built.
Do I trust the republicans ,just about as much as I trust the Democrats......No not ate all.But its a start and we will take what we can get from both on this issue.

There 5% of republicans wont want immigration reform because they want the labor to be illegal because a small group of business owners profit of slave labor in their district. Most republicans are really concerned that immigration drains local tax coffers in their towns sometimes it does when the illegals can not pay local taxes. Its a touchy issues only be resolved pushing the under the table labor market into the light. Some business owners in yard-work industry only want illegals because they don't have to pay FICA taxes for them. Its business like that are actually doing tax evasion, and at the same time breaking immigration laws the business in this practice with malice and intent to harm the taxpayers should be held more accountable than the migrants themselves. Need border protection, guest worker visa, heavy fines, stronger labor laws, and tax reform laws, its not a black and white issues immigration problem.

However, this year the Senate Bill or something merged into it, would have passed but for the House Republicans. Some Republicans understand that illegal immigration and mass immigration of the poor is ruining our schools and services for our own people. Few Democrats seem to care.

And what about the Democrats who talk about illegal immigration (but rarely will call it illegal) and do nothing about it? Americans are being let down by the people who represent them in Washington. They care for votes but burn the candle on both ends. We are being shafted because all of this mess hits us in our pockets whether we realize it or not. Of course, there is more to it than merely money, but it is too complicated a subject to discuss here.

Lou Dobbs for President!
The people need to support good upstanding politicians like Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul, boot out incumbents that don't fulfill their obligations, and swing those votes instead to a Constitutionalist or Libertarian candidate.
Just don't fool yourself into thinking that Democrats would do a better job! They're too PC to take any action. One accusation of being racist against Mexicans and they'll be lining up photo ops will illegal aliens.

Unfortunately people see what they want to see. You can slap them with reality but if they don't want to see it then there is nothing that can be done. Republicans, Democrats all are politicians looking to get ahead for personal reasons and not for the sake of our country.

All we have to do is enforce the laws we have and jail the people that hire illegals and the problem will disappear when there are no more jobs for illegals. -Libertarian
