Typically involves the femoral head (big bony part of hip joint). But avascular necrosis essentially means that a bone or part of a body gets necrosed and dies because of lack of blood supply. Hope this helps.
Can also happen to certain bones in the hand, wrist, and foot.

avascular necrosis means , its lack of poor blood supply to the moving part of the human body like joints (mainly in hip joint) , and its dute poor blood supply and the bone tissue get the damged and the affected part shound weaken and soften of the bone and easly broken

It is the death of the walls of the arteries and veins, due to their inability to rebuild themselves for some reason.

I have to correct. I understood "a" "vascular". . .
"vascular necrosis" is indeed the death of the arteries and veins walls.
But "Avascular" = the absence of irrigation by blood of any part of the body.

All of the above answers are correct. However, since I have actually had this disorder, I can add that it's painful and life-threatening, also. When the hip is involved,you have extreme pain in the groin. And a total hip replacement is the only thing that will help. Godloveya.
