"Minute Steaks" - 4 servings
4 beef "cubed" steaks
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Coat steaks with flour. Melt shortening in skillet; cook steaks over medium-high heat until brown and crispy, about 4 minutes on each side.
Season steaks with salt and pepper. If desired, top each steak with butter or margarine.
"Round Steak with Rich Gravy" - 6 to 8 servings
3 lb. beef round steak (top, bottom, or sirloin tip), 1" thick
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 tbsp. shortening
1 envelope (about 1 1/2 oz.) dry onion soup mix
1/2 cup water
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
Sprinkle one side of meat with half the flour; pound in. Turn meat and pound in remaining flour. Cut meat into 6-8 serving pieces.
Melt shortening in large skillet; brown meat in shortening over medium heat, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle onion soup mix over meat. Mix water and soup; pour over meat. Cover tightly; simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until tender.
Place meat on warm platter. Heat remaining gravy mixture to boiling; stirring constantly; pour over meat.
"Swiss Steak" - 6 servings
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 lb. beef round steak (top, bottom, or siroin tip), 1" thick
2 tbsp. shortening
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
1/2 cup minced onion
1/4 cup minced green pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Stir together flour, salt and pepper. Sprinkle one side of meat with half the flour mixture; pound in. Turn meat and pound in remaining flour mixture. Cut meat into 6 serving pieces.
Melt shortening in large skillet; brown meat over medium heat, about 15 minutes. Cover tightly; simmer 1 hour. Add small amount of water if necessary.
Mix remaining ingredients; pour over meat. Cover tightly; simmer 30 minutes or until tender.

Cut it up and it's a CUBE steak ??? Dear GOD NO !! It is a slice of top round that is TENDERIZED !!
Cube steak is a cut of beef, usually top round, tenderized by a fierce pounding of a a meat mallet or use of an electric tenderizer. It is also the most common cut of meat used for chicken fried steak

It is hard to cook it where its not tough, I would try even a crockpot with very little water and a few cut up potatoes and carrots abd celery. The only way I know to where it might be tender

I usually rinse mine in cold water, and coat with flour and add you fave seasonings wether it be salt and pepper or others, then fry in a skillet till done in the midle. Sometimes i pour gravy, pick your fave, over the top and heat til gravy is warm, in the skillet still. Its good with mashed taters or any vegie or side dish. Usually only takes 15-20 minutes all together.

You buy a round steak,and you cut it up then it is then a cube steak.
