It depends on what's causing you to vomit. Did you eat bad food? flu? food allergy?

Usually the best thing you can do is try water, little sips at first, if you keep them down, try other liquids, maybe clear soup broth.

ginger ale, tea and crackers are recommended for nausea so those would be good to try.

The sure sign you are ready for food after vomiting is waiting until your stomach growls that signals for sure it's ready for food.

crackers, or dry toast, and flat soda.

If you are doing it a lot make sure you're getting fluids, even if it will come back up as you can become dehydrated.
If it's particularly bad or you also have diarrhea you'll also need to get minerals so drink some electrolyte containing solution or even just some salt or a banana if you can handle one
I hear Gatorade is good to take. Basically, those exercise/energy drinks balance your electrolytes.

If you have a fever or any other suspicious signs, or it goes on for too long get medical attention. But there's nothing you can to do "make it feel better" you just need to wait until it passes. If it's something that your body wants rid of it will take a bit of time. If it's a medical problem you'd need to get it seen to, diagnosed and "cured" for it to get better.

Sorry, hope you feel better. :(

Theres two meds available over the counter..."Emetrol" and "Set'l"...both are equally effective and pretty much the same...just a mixture of sugars in a liquid syrup form....w/out these products or if none were available...I would just consume a teaspoon of sugar...that should give you a faint appetite depending on the severity of the nausea...eat a cracker or sliver of piece of bread....if the nausea returns eat a teaspoon of sugar and repeat the process until you can hold down a piece of toast w/ butter comfortably...I have done this myself and effectively cured nausea...but I would highly recommend keeping a bottle of emetrol in your med cabinet for occasions like this...I can tell you none of the treatments that anyone else has written is as effective as this one...soda upsets a sensetive stomach...as does water...other things like baking soda or whatever will always come back up...sugar is the main ingredients in the over the counter nausea treatment...pepto etc aren't for nausea....so decide for yourself...

Drink Sprite or 7 up, the carbonation really helps, and the liquid is clear. Also, try chewing some Juicy Fruit gum (the 4 for a dollar kind" the acid in it help calm the stomach down. It is also great for car rides to keep for getting yucky on trips.

if you are vomiting its better to rest your stomach and stop taking any foods or fluid first because you'll just keep on vomiting what you take in. try only sips of water after you felt relief from nausea and progress to small frequent feedings. you didnt describe your vomitus, if its projectile, coffee ground in color and consistency, reddish or a little green, or accompanied with abdominal pain, enlargement and constipation. see your doctor immediatley and if tingling sensation happens on any part of your extremities go 2 ur doc

If it's the flu, then I would reccommend drinking sprite or 7up just so you have something in your stomach to throw up. For food soda crackers are awesome for settling your stomach. I used to get bouts with the stomach flu as a kid and that seemed to work for me. Just make sure you have something in your stomach to throw up, or it is ten times worse.

Sip Coke, regular Coke, not Diet Coke, not Cherry Coke. Has to be just Coke.
I wouldn't eat anything just yet. The Coke should settle your stomach. If you don't feel better soon, call the doc.
