Well I'm 16 and I've always wanted my bottom lip pierced. (the right side) but my mom and grandma dislike the idea. I have my father's full support but he won't let me get it done if I don't atleast have my grandma's permission. I don't see my mom often because she doesn't live with us but how do I convince my grandma? I've been very attentive to her around the house, did all the chores and stuff. My grades improved. I don't know what else there is to do. I tried convicing her, telling her why I want the piercing, that I know of the risk of HIV/AIDS, infections and such, but she won't hear it. I don't want to wait until I'm 18 >___<

I understand my relationship is extremely important with my grandma, my dad has given me the same lecture, but it's so annoying sence I REALLY want to get it done, sence I was 12 actually. Plus, I love her and all but she's not going anytime soon. She's in her early 60's and she's fairly healthy. (Omg I sound like a jerk right now.)
Despite that I've always had a fetish for piercings and tattoos, I don't know why.

If you are not willing to wait until you're 18, then you're probably not ready to have a piercing. Personally, I really hate saying that, but it's the truth. I deal with teenagers all the time who get piercings and then come back with infections and/or damaged parts of their anatomy, because they're not ready to handle something like that.
Oral piercings require vigilant aftercare (daily sea salt soaks, non-alcoholic mouthwash - like Biotene - after every meal for the first few months, no kissing/oral contact with anyone else for the first month or so, etc.) and you really need to go to a GOOD piercer, so that they can line up the piercing to not rub on your gums or teeth. I have two lip piercings and neither of them rub on my teeth or gums and I've had no problems with them, because I took good care of them during the healing process and I don't play with them afterward (which can cause erosion of the gumline, damage to your tooth enamel, and/or chipped/damaged teeth).
Go to safepiercing.org and there will be a lot of information on oral piercings that you can show your grandmother. If she won't budge on the issue, then don't push it. She may change her mind in time or you will just have to wait until you're 18. If you're already 16, then that's less than 2 years away. I know that it seems like forever, but it's really not. You may even change your mind on the matter by then. When it comes to body modification, it's always good to be absolutely certain you want to go through with it and I always suggest to teens that they sit on an idea for at least a year before they do it - as that's what I always did. If I still liked the idea after that amount of time, I got it done. But more often than not... I'd have changed my mind within a year and wanted something else.

I got my tongue pierced on my 21st birthday and I realised it's not really that cool though. My younger sister got her tongue pierced too right after I did mine and she was only 14!!!
Guess what? I gave her a lecture she will never forget because I sounded so funny with the freshly pierced tongue!
Haha...
If you are still schooling, why don't you just drop the idea for the time being? Getting a piercing won't improve your grades you know?

I understand,but I have to say-your relationship with your grandmother is more important than a piercing. If she objects that much, I'd even consider waiting until she's gone. You will have years to enjoy your piercing but maybe not many more with your grandma.
I waited until age 40 to get my nose pierced and still my dad objected! But neither of my grandmas would have understood at all. They would have seen it as disrespect. I know it's your face-just think about it. Good luck.

I would not let my son have one while he lived with me and he respected my decision and he dropped it. So when he turned 19 years old and moved out on his own he got one. Don't get me wrong I did not like it one bit and I was angry about it, but he did respect my wishes while he lived with me, so I really did not say much about him getting one when he moved out. I can tell that you love your grandma very much and she loves you so maybe you can wait till you are 18 years old.I understand where she's coming from.

You should try and keep working hard if that doesn't work than work hard than you have ever worked before like get your grades to an A+ do every chore there is and if this doesn't work tell her that you will gie up anything for it
