My friend is taking many different kinds of vitamins beside the one-a-day daily. i.e., magnesium, Vit D, B-12, Folic Acid, Niacin, calcium, fish oil. Plus three perscriptions; Plavix, Lisinopril, and Crestor. Can someone please give a good web site to go to check out for this info? Thanks and God bless.

Many over the counter vitamins are a waste of money. The manufacturers compete based on price and so use lousy sources, extraction methods that destroy the nutrients, and use cheap fillers that aren't good for you. Plus, because they're fractionated, you miss out on all the other nutrients found in whole foods.

That being said, the doctor took the lazy approach by saying cut out the vitamins. Proper nutrition (and hydration, exercise and sleep) are all critical factors to your friend's better health. Something was lacking for him to end up where he is and the drugs will only mask the problem while it continues to get worse (and drug use is by no means safe either!).

If it was me, I'd drink lots of good quality water, get 8 hours sleep per night, get some daily exercise (even just some walking), improve my diet (eliminating sugar as much as possible), and get a quality whole foods nutritional supplement(s). That'll do wonders for anyone who hasn't been doing it previously!

Have you tried Web MD? It can help you there. Also, you might try asking your pharmacist to run a cross reference of the medicines and the vit. and see if any counter act against the other. I know in alot of cases, natural vitamins are excreted through the kidneys if not needed by the body and the kidneys are functioning normally. A good pharmacist can be your best friend when it comes to help like this. Ask them and see. I live in a little town and it is so wonderful to have one that is so friendly and has time to do that. Good luck.

In the USA alone, 250,000 people die each year because of medical doctors misdiagnosing patients and giving people drugs that harm them!

One of the respondents said to "trust the guy with the medical degree." Doctors are in bed with drug companies. If your doc doesn't understand and espouse the use of nutritional remedies, he is a moron (no matter how many degrees he may have!) and you need to find another one! Many of these doctors resent the notion that a vitamin or supplement can outdo them. It shines a spotlight on how corrupt the medical system is in this country.

Yup, too much of certain vitamins can end up poisoning you and screwing up your system.
When in doubt, trust the guy with the medical degree, not some random website....

Don't worry about the water soluble stuff like B complex and C, they will flush out. The fat soluble ones will build up and can become toxic.

Plavix is used to diminish the risk of heart attacks and strokes caused by blood clots is increased in patients with a recent history of stroke, heart attach and peripheral vascular disease. It is used to prevent ischemic disorders like myocardial infarction, stroke, thrombosis of peripheral arteries and others.
